Well, I think that it is about time that a big mod recieves the "realism" treatment to jets. I think that if you would compare the speed of vanilla bf2 jets to actual real life videos, the speed is much slower in bf2. For obvious reasons, one being to make it easier to control and maneuver in combat. BUT- I think we would all like some SPEED with simplicity as well- My idea would be to have the jet go VERY fast, only when using afterburners, for a short time, but a long enough time to give you that "WOO HOO IM CLEARING A MILE A SECOND" fealing. If this can be pulled off, bravo. If/If not, I still think one main aspect that should be added to jets is the sonic boom. At least to the people on the ground. Trust me, super-realistic jet sound effects would add that "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" type of adrenaline rush to the mod. It can easily be pulled off, with easy and simple research on the sounds of a real sonic boom, and watching some youtube videos. If any of the mod developers wish to contact me about this, I will help do the majority of the work regarding planning and information on the way it should sound. All I need is for someone to record/make the sound in the propper format to install in a future update. I have always been a fan of the few games which can actually make you feel like your at an airshow. I will do anything to get this put into an update. At least the sonic boom effect. Contact me on here, or via AIM: whoashabutiedc7, Xfire: davexiii90, or hotmail: dave_4228@hotmail.com
By the way, a PERFECT example of the speed that should be applied to the jets would be here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-q_GONfChw. This is exactly what high speed jet action looks like, and I can verify this due to attending many airshows, studying aircraft, and having a long history of learning about real life military aircraft. If its too hard to make it like this video, I dont think the developers with PR would have anything against helping you guys out, with atleast some tips on how to make the nice effect they did. Watch that video, its worth it.

the only thing about having real fast jets is that AA will have a very hard time to track them and shoot them down as well as with the size of current DC maps you would run out of air space real fast.
On the other hand it does look cool.

Ok, then lets skip to the next thing: sonic booms. If you have played or watched a video of the latest Superman game for the Xbox360, you will see how simple, yet so awesome, it is.

Thanks for the comments,
Sonic Booms can be cool, but it isn't really a priority on what we are working with at the moment.
We are currently balancing the Jets to give more tournament consideration and skill to owning the skies. Realism (which of course is not possible in a game) is not our direction. Balance and the need to use skill is more a concern for us than a sense of realistism.
Recreating the DC style experience (which was not a realism type simulator) is our goal, as best we can.
Thanks for the suggestions, and if enough people are interested in it, it will go into our update list.

Just as some input. This was not put in until DCX final but there was a UAV that one could pilot to spot targets and spot for arty. I dont think a UAV should be able to see in a building like in BF2 but a UAV that one could fly and spot with, that used a normal camera (like the one from the gunner seat of the Apachee), would be a nice add on. Just my opinion.

Seems kind of rude to come into this mods section, and try to convince someone leaving a message to go over to another mod. The more people playing mods the better, but it seems a little slimy.
My guess is that as detailed as Davexiii90 is in his knowledge, he knows about PR. Your suggestions and comments are good ones dave, and it seems like the dcon team are already working on some of it.
Keep the ideas comming, the dcon mod will become the top mod for bf2 as it works out the bugs imo.

?????
your message makes no sense?????
I play both PR and DCON. one is realistic, one isnt. Both are good mods. Just letting dave know about a realism mod, and what we have in store for jets (his exact suggestion).
I think you need to realize you can play more than one mod at time ;)
Its not a 'competition' like you make it seem... no ones competing, its about getting vanilla players stop rank whoring and enjoying what the community has to offer

He is implying that this mod isn't about realism and if one wants realism one should check out PR...I for one agree with him...
