Battlefield 2 used to work just fine but then all of the sudden this happened. I start BF2 and what follows is a black screen not going anywhere. I pressed Alt+Tab+Delete and BF2 was 'responding'. But underneath BF2 it said, "Error!" I couldn't minimize to see what this Error was. So I ended the Error! and that closed out of BF2 as well. Since then I have tried,

-re-installing
-Disk Defrag
-registry cleanup
-ad-aware
-anti virus check
-updating video driver (8800 GTS)

Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

I am assuming it is a video card problem? Maybe something to do with the 8800 drivers?

Help please!!

what are your full system specs?

Also it might sound silly, but get the latest divx codec & sound drivers.

Have you changed anything on your system lately, ie graphic or sound drivers?

No, this just happens to be completely random! Some new info....

I just tried booting up 2142 and I got the exact same problem.

The only new things I have downloaded before this happened were:

CC Cleaner
and
RegscrubXP
