I am totally new to this game, so can anyone give me advise on how to set my settings etc? I used to play cs, and there r some settings we need to set to enhance performance such as rates, fps and such. are there similar things in bf2 as well? also, wats a good resolution setting for bf2? I got a E6600 + 2 gb ddr2800 and 7950GT

As for optimisation: http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html
To find out your Fps:
Open the console by pressing the ` key. (The one to the left of 1)
Type in the following without the quote marks " renderer.drawFps1 "
As for graphics, I'm not sure, but at a guess I would say you could play all high.
Find a balance between graphics and performance by observing your Fps at different graphical settings.

i would say medium/high but you could probably get away with nearly all high with 2gbs of RAM ;)

Make sure you set geometry to high and view distance to 100%

i think u should be able to play all high fine.
plus wat is the resolution of ur monitor? most standard monitors are like 1280x1024 and thats a pretty good resolution to play at. and i think its also best to play the game with the same standard resolution of ur monitor
