Thats because there were 2 f35s hovering there. The shadow you see is of a different one not visible in the screenshot. You can actually see the thruster if you look close enough.

the MEC could easily whip out 1 C4 and ill the pilot through the windshield ( the MEC isn't sniper so can't snipe the pilot. he'll ahve to damage the jet, but could easily then take it back to a friendly airfield to repair)

One may assume the aircraft is hovering... However, the VTOL lift fan bay doors are sealed shut. How is this so?
