The irony of those who complain about this site being slow

I don't know about you, but the main page loads up lightning fast for me.

But I notice, whenever I click on a thread entitled "OMG POINTS LOL", I notice it's atrociously slow.

Why?

Look in your status bar.

Usually on most websites the text and everything coming from the home server is loaded first, then the 3rd party images.

And btw, people wont ever remove stats from their sigs, not even me.

My point is that the site itself ZINGS on, but the stats whoring makes the actual rendering of the page slow as f*ck.

its not just the stat sigs, its those who inisist on having pictures in their sigs greater than 200kb,

The size doesn't matter, the server still needs to fetch the DB entries from GameSpy.

Agreed with the stats sigs, they really aren't necessary and just clutter up space, if you want to show off stats then add a text link to them like I have.

Stats sigs are so obnoxious...with Adblock though, I can catch a lot of them thanks to the wildcards. Just block images from all the stats sites, Adblock infact prevents them from even loading, so you get nice fast page loads :)

It's both irony and hypocrisy. A simple link to stats will do, seriously.

People do it to boost their E-Ego, and as for slowing down pages I'd go with GIF avatars, though the dimesions may not effect it the page the size of it would.
