View Full Version : =CDU= DCon Altered Maps

Just wanna put in an update here.
IP in case you can't find it through in game or out of game server searches is:
70.86.55.74
Server is runnin all conquest. All of these run the biggest map size unless otherwise noted.
This is the current rotation:
El Al Day 1
Lost Village (No Para)
Gazala
Outskirts of Mosul
El Al Day 2
Mashtuur City
Road to Jalalabad(32 player version)
Zatar Wetlands
All maps except Mashtuur have edits to them. Things like more available vehicles and stuff moved around a bit. LV for example has m82 pickups at both mains, as well as extra VSS spawns throughout the map. There are also extra mounted MG's spread around overlooking most flags.
I have also done some server edits to objects and soldiers. All hangars repair quicker and have a slightly bigger radius. Same with runways except they rearm instead of repair. The helo gunners have had tweaks done to them to make them more effective against ground troops and other helos. Lastly soldier sprint has been just about doubled for all classes.
Also the ability to go prone in mid-air no longer works on our server. There is a slightly stronger stam penalty for jumping too. You can still bunny hop and shoot while in the air. We just wanted the prone while airborne thing gone.
After this next patch there will most likely be more edits, until then enjoy.
In case you don't know the server rules, they are very simple.
Don't be an asshat (Don't TK, no TK for equip, no glitching, no cheats)
Don't use vehicles as taxi's just to get to planes or helos. Do not leave vehicles on the runway!
Don't drive off in an artillery vehicle when it's already occupied.
(this one won't be needed after next patch)
That's it.

wtf? we never thearted a law suit, someone would have to be mad to do that. We just did not like the fact that they where doing SSMs that where taking PR in a direction we did not want it to go in, thou it wasnt just these guys who where doing it.
anyways good luck on your server guys, DCon is much more suited to your clan than PR :)

Junkoe,
I remember you from our DCON server. I am also pretty sure I remember trying to talk with you several time about working together to host mod servers for the community? Shame we could not get beyond the stupid clan mentality and work together on this, however I do see from your post that you guys finally decided to throw your hat in the ring for a share of the players. Best of luck with that.:D

I don't really know what you mean by finally throwing our hat in the ring. We have had the server up since day 1 of the release. It has been modded since day 2. I just figured I'd post up some of the changes that have been done since the initial set of mods.

Ah! My bad I have been talking with lots of players and clans in trying to build support for the mods and while I do remember speaking with you I forgot you already had a DCON server up and running.
I do remember the conversation we had concerning server side mods so I went and asked our players what they wanted to see on the server with in reason and I am working on adding them to our DCON servers now so they should be on the server by the end of this week.
Once again please accept my apologies like I said I talk with many players and clans every day so accidentally overlooking something like that is quite easy for me. Hell now a days I am lucky I even remember talking to you at all. :D

I don't know who told you that but I am sorry that it got said or misunderstood.
There never was a lawsuit threatened or anything but there was talk on their forums that we were doing illegal things based on how we did our server side mods. Which was to edit the map files themselves on our server. There was one dev who took it a bit far but really it was just a few people getting heated over how they want their mod to be played. We disagreed and it went downhill from there.
Stuff happens.
I am just thankful that the DCon devs see things a little differently. They completely support server side modding. I have even gotten help from a few devs related to some of the mods I do. One example is how we gave a scud to each side. This messes with the spotting system if they are both occupied at the same time. Kiff has done some extra codework in the next patch so that we wont have that problem anymore. Lest I forget to mention the time MasterX has spent with me going over a few things as well. He even setup a server side modding website.
Different strokes for different folks.
camper.

I don't really understand what's wrong with modded mod servers based on a game that originated as a mod for an already modded game.
Maybe the folks at PR need "ranked" servers ;)
Modded servers are way more fun usually. They tend to take out a lot of the boring crap like short sprint times and lack of vehicles and whatnot.
Though some of them are silly, one DCon server had infinite apaches.

IIRC, they modded major gameplay features, such as vehicle spawn times, player spawn times, and kit request times. It was not how the dev team wanted PR to be played.

Yeah, I can understand that. Goes against the general feel of the mod itself.
Still, we need a few fun servers, yes, even on "reality". :yay:

yes basically we didnt like the fact the SSMs where taking the mod in a direction we really did not want it to go in, and having things like short respawn times etc was just making the mod play in a way we did not want our mod to be played. I never recall anyone saying anything illegal was going on thou.... never mind, all been and done.

I am a big DCON groupie myself and this section of the forums is for DCON related topic but I wanted to respond to your last comment.
Please don't get me wrong I like the PR mod and the style of game play it offers can be a refreshing change of pace for players that are looking for a structured gaming environment, however your statement it’s not how the devs wanted it to be played is a problem for me.
I understand that PR was designed to make the game seem more realistic and to promote a team play environment so if that's your thing then fine but don't you think that after over 2 years of being told how they have to play this game that it would be in the best interest of your mod to stop telling players how you want it to be played and to start working a cooperating with clans and communities that are supporting the mod despite the fact that they don't play it the way you wish them to if you?
The mods in general attract a very small percentage of the Bf2 players to begin with and somehow, I don’t think telling them how they have to play the mod is conducive to attracting and keeping players that are supportive of the mods.
My point being is that I have been hosting several mods servers and the ones that seem to do the best are the servers where we do not have rules that tell the players how they have to play the mod.
There are enough rules in real life and people are told how and what to do all the time, I don’t think they want to be subject to the same when they sit down to relax, unwind and game.

Unless you agree and sign a term of engagement or they (MOD Devs) control servers (like ROE for BF2), then server owners can alter whatever they want (Change spawn time, vehicles, damage etc..). I’m no lawyer, but I don’t see the threat of a lawsuit holds any merits, although, it made me laugh when I read it.
Lastly, as Mr. Mitch66 mentioned, this is DCon forums, if you have issues with other MODs, take it to their forums, not here. Any more posts not related to DCon will be deleted.

I thought we dropped the lawsuit thing ages ago?
@mitch66, that is why there are other mods for players to choose from aswell as PR like DCon ;)
EDIT: As I said on my previous post, anything not related to DCon will be deleted.
