I played BF2 since release and never been able to get rid of this lag, even through upgrades.

Current setup: DFI LanParty MB, AMD 64 3700+ , 2GB DDR, 160GB Sata drive 7200 ,2X Nvidia 7900GT SLI, X-FI Sound Card, Windows XP, 1440X900 resolution.

The strange thing is the in-game FPS counter is always around 60fps but it doesn't go down when i lag, my ping is usually around 40-50 as well. I don't have anything running in back ground like AV or anything. I have even lowered settings to mostly Low except AA x2.

I have also bypassed by router and plugged into the cable modem itself. same issue.

I also notice this happens mostly when around large cluster of players and 64 player maps... I experience things like when i jump it will be jerky, flaky movement, late reaction to going prone ect... Happens on random servers and even in US servers.

I have done so many clean format and installs and upgrades don't know what else, except CPU upgrade to X2 AMD??

I think the people you're playing with actually effect the game for everyone. If you're playing right next to a bunch of people with high pings, I'm pretty sure you'll experience some lag (which is why servers usually have ping limits).

Could just be that >.>

my question to you is how do you get the fps to show up in-game all the time
I know you can open the console and type "renderer.drawfps 1" to turn it on, but is there a way to turn it on all the time so it will be there every start??

I don't have it on automatically, i just remember to type it in when i play.

Well the average high ping i play with ppl around me is about 140-150. We are all on teamspeak, I play with some euros and US. Doesn't seem to make huge difference from what i've seen, some but not to the extent i always experience.

Do you think 2GB is enough to play 64player highly populated maps?

Heh, my PC has always runned on 2 gigs, took 1 out coz i needed it for my mediacenter. Never notiched the differents in game though, only BF closes a bit faster with 2 gigs.
