starting on saturday i have had this problem on and off. in vanilla and in bf2pro. i can load bf2 and connect to account server and even get a server list. then i try and join a server and it just freezes. doesnt matter if its a private, unranked, ranked, or whatever kind of server. ive done everything just about. uninstalled the game, uninstalled bf2 pro. deleted my accounts and retrieved them. used multiple accounts to try it and nothing seems to be working. i just loaded into a private server fine, then i unloaded and tried to join a public one and it froze. any idea what is going on?

Its been happening to me too. Had BF2 since it came out and never had this problem. Now just recently same thing. Hit join game on the server screen and it just freezes. Have uninstalled-reinstalled multiple times, used my old profile, made a new one, reinstalled video drivers, changed resolution to match my desktop, reset modem and router, updated punkbuster, etc etc. Nothing has worked. Once in a while I will get lucky and actually join a server, but I'd say 90% of the time it freezes when I hit join game. And yes...I did use the search function, however what I was seeing, was people were actually joining a server, loading a map, getting ingame then freezing. I am freezing at the server select screen, no joining server, no map loading, no getting ingame......just hitting the join server button and it freezes. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If its any comfort, its not just us. Was reading the eauk forums and people there are reporting the same problem, starting just recently. Sounds like it must be a bigger problem, not just something on our end.

Glad to know im not the only one. Not sure for a fact but in my case it seems to be worst on Karkarnd Map.

I even tried installing the game in another computer....

Will try tonight to go back to the older 93.71 video driver. ( this is the only change I have made latetly on my pc )

Have not seen any replies from EA. Basically no replies from anybody, except others experiencing the same thing.

If you want to reinstall go ahead. All I can say is.....I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times....didn't help a thing.

You do any registry cleaning because it could be corrupt entries. Download and run CCleaner (http://www.filehippo.com/download/9838386a743262a2d7aaedfb3b432ae2/download/), running both the issues and cleaner options. This will remove any bad links (make sure BF2 in uninstalled at the time).

If your familiar with Windows, head over to regedit and do it manually.

Uninstalled by add/remove programs. Then followed EA's how to manual uninstall....looking for anything leftover. Ran CrapCleaner both ways. Ran 2 other registry cleaning programs. Searched for anything BF2 related. Before reinstalling.

I just COMPLETELY reformatted my entire hard drive with a fresh install of XP. Loaded BF2 and Special Forces and still am experiencing the "freeze" at "join server". It is not all servers, like 3 out of 5. I posted this problem in an earlier post. Wouldn't you know I had complete power failure while playing BF2 last Saturday....AAARRRGGG. I thought it corrupted a system file or REG file. Glad to know other are sharing my pain. Well not glad, but it does help.

So anyway, don't go re-installing all your files just yet......unless you just have alot of spare time now, not playing BF2!

BTW, I am posting my ISP so if others do, maybe we can eliminate that. I'm on BrightHouse/Time Warner with Road Runner High Speed service, in the panhandle region of Florida.

yep, you're definitely not alone, both I and another clan mate are having the same problems. So far no word from EA i don't believe but you can check out the EA forums for more info about this. http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?sls=2&tstart=0&threadID=233128&start=60

Run a "tracert" on the ip of the server your trying to connect to and post a screenshot of the results back here.

Same issue for me as well, and in two years it's only happened this past weekend. I'm not doing anything for about a week, since it doesn't sound like a client related issue.
