I just bought the complete bf2 collection. I am using Vista Ultimate on a P4 3.0 ghz computer. I have 2 gigs of ram, and an ATI X850XT PE. I have my computer hooked up to my 32 inch widescreen tv through component out on the video card. Im running 1248x692(custom resolution due to overscan on 1280x720) neither resolutions work for bf2 for me. anyways Its a fresh install of vista, bf2 with the latest ati drivers, and directx. I still haven't gotten to play a game of bf2 yet. Can't even put in my profile name and password. It boots the game in widescreen, shows the EA Logo then the Dice logo. Then the bf2 intro video. goes to the menu where it asks if you wanna play single player or multiplayer. I choose either of them and it crashes right to the desktop with no message or error codes. Called EA, they flat out told me they don't support widescreen or vista. Told me to go online and ask around in forums for help. So if anyone knows how i can fix my problem, I would greatly appreciate the advice. Thanks
Well i just figured out that it works fine with a CRT monitor using non widescreen resolutions over VGA. Now my setup at the moment is component out to my TV. with the CRT it was DVI 2 a VGA adaptor to my VGA port on my monitor. I can't get my TV to use any widescreen resolutions over VGA. its native 1368x768. Over Component i can get anything up to 1920x1080. But using component BF2 load to the login screen then crashes back to the desktop with no error message. Anyone have any idea on what I could do?
