The Forgotten Hope 2 (http://forgottenhope.filefront.com/main.php?flash=no&lang=english&module=) mod team is back today with their latest update showing off a new render and in game screenshots. Take a look:
Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope 2. After two weeks without news it is time to show you a little more of the mod's progress.
The Flugabwehr-Kanone 18, probably the most well known artillery piece of the war, is technically an anti aircraft artillery gun, but that is an oversimplification. Like its opponents, the Wehrmacht of 1939 had underestimated the need for powerful anti-tank guns and equipped its anti-tank units with weapons that proved too small for their job. Unlike other armed forces, it had a ready substitute for the underpowered AT guns already in place -- the notorious '88'.
Although designed for an anti-air role, and deployed in large numbers by the Wehrmacht, which emphasized the tactical use of air power in its doctrines, its high velocity projectiles were also deadly to enemy armor. While the armies of other nations struggled to play catch-up, Germany had an effective anti-tank weapon avaialble in abundance from the start of the conflict. Also useful as direct support artillery it was a flexible and justly feared weapon that deserves much of the credit for creating the legend of German armored prowess. Arisaka created the model and the paintjob is by Jimbob. Read more... (http://forgottenhope.filefront.com/main.php?flash=no&lang=english&module=)

marston mats were not deployed in this manner. They were set down over the entire field in an interlocking overlay.
Also, you Flak has some issues, most notably with the absence of the shell tray, and the long cylinder that runs most of the length of the left side of the barrel (looking from the rear).
otherwise, nice update.

If you dont release this soon, then people will start to lose interest. I don't want to rush the people making it, but its just gone 2 years now, and BF3 is going to based around WWII.

"absence of the shell tray" - what you mean?
"long cylinder that runs most of the length of the left side of the barrel" - some guns haven't this detail.
BTW strange so see you in FH2 section after "I will ask that you are banned from commenting on our news posts alltogether".

before telling another mod they are wrong think to yourself - "do i have all the refs they used?" "is the ref i am using the same model as the item i am commenting on?"
Long story short - model is awesome. Spot on with the ref pics i was using to texture - and i have seen every little corner on this baby. If the model wasn't so detailed It wouldnt have taken me so long to complete its texture!!
Thanks for the comment - However i tend not to agree.
Thanks to all those who have posted nice comments!

Looks great. Takiwa was right about the matting, you need to have the whole airfield filled with those.

thats just a static screenshot so the marston mats could be all over the runway and we arent seeing them but i wouldn't expect them to be, imagine all the polys for each mat and then having them covering the entire runway. id imagine it would have a undesired lag effect for slower machines. that not just ground cover, im pretty sure each of them is its own object.

I'm not either, you guys who keep bugging for this mod to come out need to get a job or play some other games. Besides Insurgency will def. tide you over till FH2 is released.
So awesome, I am just scared they're going to put a prize on it !!!
j/k, but if this had to be an expansion pack... they'd be rich.
But I am glad these modders do it for free :) my hero's!

I just remind you what Lobo said in the Me110 news:
I don't know you, but we post public news to:
1) advertise the mod
2) and to get feedback, lot of times people has publicly pointed inacuracies or sugested.
improvements in our news and we always say thanks, we can agree or not with the feedback but it's never negative or derogatory if it's constructive.
Just an example with a personal screw up of mine, my hurricane had wrong markings, an early war roundel with a late war tail fin, a person pointed it and I had the chance of fix the mistake, I would never flame that person, he helped me to improve stuff. To make such a big deal about feedback just creates artificial dramas between mods, something ALWAYS negative, a person never knows when will need the help of other, so better bridges than egos.
We are just helping you to improve your stuff.
It is not that kind of arrogant post to try making other mods look like idiots like you, Taranov, try to.
before telling another mod they are wrong think to yourself - "do i have all the refs they used?" "is the ref i am using the same model as the item i am commenting on?"
Thx. We will remember that for the next comment by FH members on BGF stuff and remind you of comments already given by FH members on BGF stuff.
The Flak18 Texture looks good, a lot of details

Just a note on the bits on the ground in the plane screenshots: I think they're sand ladders and not Marston Mats.

I assumed they were marston mats because, besides the fact that they look like them (the pics you posted actually reinforce this), the ground beneath them isn't sand, but gravel...not to mention that there is nothing more than a naming difference between "marston mats" and "sand ladders"...they are the same, and do the same thing.
It isn't my map, though, so do what you like.
nice anyways :)

ww2 geeks can discuss ardently about a rivet displaced 2 inches, and send the godfathers each other to organize a duel at dawn.
It's a hell of an entertainment, haha

You could cover the airfield with the mats by modeling it as one large object.
But I dont think these were used for airfields in the desert anyway, they were just to get heavy vehicles out of a sand bog.
Airfields were made from flat bulldozed areas. There was no need for them, they didnt build airfields on shifting sands.

Looks great. Takiwa was right about the matting, you need to have the whole airfield filled with those.yep, i think they made it a ground effect texture... as in, it functions as tarmac but looks like the mats....
i can't wait for this mod.... i'll get my flatmate hooked too... he likes DOD so im sure he will go nuts with this mod....

Yep this is correct. They were mainly used in Europe and in the Pacific where the ground was less suited for aircraft without some sort of firmer ground (to stop sinking and them getting stuck). In the desert this was normally done just by compacting an area of desert to form a solid surface for use. The LDRG did use sand ladders a lot to get their landrovers through soft sand on their missions though.

Alex has a valid point here, zuiquan1. It would make sense for EA to go back to a WW2 format since BF1942 has so many loyal followers. If EA does that, mods like FH2 won't have the attraction they would have if released earlier. As a BF1942, BF2, and 2142 vet :guns: I’d love to see EA to another WW2 title. New locations and WW2 unlocks sounds like a lot of fun to me! :yay:
I hope FH2 comes out before the next Battlefield release. Otherwise, I won’t bother playing it. :shakehead:

^^^ well thats just to bad for you!!!
I dunno bout this EA is doing another ww2 themed battlefield. I see no proof and hear no whispers. Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see ;)
