View Full Version : BF2 expansions are rubbish.
Because EA is just ripping everyone off the orignal game.
Why do they need to create another 3! games supported by Battlefield 2.
its like the finished making BF2, released it then started created the next expansion pack
INSTEAD they should of kept working on BF2 with big updates such as new maps, weapons ect..
There cant be alot of people playing these 3 other games cause they made too many, its such a stupid thing to do.
And there already doing the same for Battlefield 2142.
CANT THEY JUST STICK WITH THE SAME GAME AND KEEP IT UPDATED?
One expansion is enough, but 3?? why??

EA is a company trying to make money for EVERY SMALL PEICE OF WORK they do.
If you want a game with GOOD DEVELOPERS go buy Red Orchestra, I play it and they release free booster packs every couple of months.

I think SF is worth it because you get additional unlocks, grapples and zip lines, plus no airplanes in SF maps.

I enjoy all of the expansions in this game, the only downside is the lack of usage.

Uhh..you do realize that that is what an expansion pack is? Or do you just expect EA to hand you free content. They have your 50$, they give you a game, that's it. EA is a company, companies are made to make money, why not market expansion packs?

Companies should do what the people want, instead of the people doing what companines want.
If you want a game where they hand out free booster packs, buy Red Orchestra, it's definently worth it, Battlefield 2 is still worth it and I feel that buying SF was definently worth it aswell.

Well, you can only dream, a company based in a capitalist country is competing in a free market, only the best survive. Companies doing what others want would benifit the consumer but inturn the company may die. So when you look at EA as A group of hooligans after your money, think again they are trying their best to survive.

I've mentioned it a few times in this thread, Red Orchestra! :p :p
I still think SF should of been apart of vanilla.

SF was awesome, really was worth the money, i just loved the night maps, and there has only been one ex-pack, i do agree the boosters were kinda pointless.

I have to agree about SF. That one is worth it. The other two should have been free additions to the game. 3 maps and a few new vehicles with each booster pack - not worth it.

I would happily repay my money if they added two new teams, but only one really sucked.

I wouldn't mind all those boosters if they wouldn't split the community that badly.
SF as official add on is ok, although it doesn't come close to vanilla.
And I still can't fly a chopper in SF because of the tremendous video lag.
For me, vanilla is the way to go.

download mods instead...
perfect example of why you should download a free mod instead of buy the booster packs.

I don't think SF is rubbish at all....in fact 9/10 I play SF instead of Vanilla. EF and AF I agree are not that great with EF being the worst. But heck its only a game and their are a lot worse games out there then the BF2 expansion packs!

SF and AF are awesome expansions (AF, as long as you have the plane). I have played more time on AF than SF!

EA Should charge for expansions but they should make them cheaper and only make them dowloads where maps are available in regular bf2 only......But they wont give them for free we all know that, So we have mods for anything we want basically.

Dude, the game + expansions is/are fine stop poking it....as for the recent "1.2+" patches I dont like BF2 much anymore, its not as competative as it once was...now that they safeguard every thing, stupid recoil...
Btw why does everyone refer to the Boosters as Expansions? Is that realy what they are..i thought they just added a little content.

Make them cheaper. You are getting a small game for the price of a Big Mac meal at Mcdonalds. You cannot make them any cheaper whilst making a profit.

yeah SF was pretty good and even tho i dont play it anymore, i love the using hte L96 and G36E :D and the booster packs were a bad idea. it caused a ton of confusion since they were sortof like an expansion pack but it didnt really have anything in it. id mite buy another expansion pack but not a booster pack

they should have gone the full length on the 'boosters'
euro forces for example
instead make it an expansion like SF
have 3 new armies
UK
Germany
France
and have about 5-7 maps, with new vehicles and weapons
AF is harder coz of the setting, but maybe more maps and extra content (i.e. the harrier + equivilant for the opposition)

The biggest problem with the boosters is that they're only 3 maps each. The extra content (new vehicles) is nice but more ranked maps is what BF2 needs to stay popular. Since their value was so questionable most people didn't get them which means that servers won't run the maps mixed with vanilla maps. They either need to be cheap enough that most BF2 players will buy them or have enough maps to justify running as a separate expansion. People that paid $40-$50 for the full game with 12 maps (plus 3 more released free later) are not likely to pay another $10 for 3 maps and a handful of vehicles. Especially when many of them complained about only getting 12 maps with the game.

BF2 and SF are great together.
There is enough added content to make SF worthwhile.
But when you look at these "booster" packs. You get more from FREE mods!!!!
Its not the price, its the fact that I'm expect to pay for such half-baked addons.
EA and DICE can kiss my A$$. Fix the Vista64 issues, the 4gb ram issue, and why my VOIP doesn't work (voicesetup.exe doesn't register recorded sound, but things like things like nero wave editor DOES! And the voicesetup exe crashes when "save settings" is clicked.)

Alex is correct, you get a nice addon for a great game at the cost of a pack of cigarettes!!, people who make decent mods make them for free, they could make us pay, id pay for AIntent mod and PoE2, but PR no as the recoil is terrible and not very realistic, even tho it has the British army in it :salute:
if i had the money, id buy SF as it looks amazing and i want to play as a british SAS unit, and pilot a Apache attack helicopter as they are the best :yay:
So please think about it, instead of saying oh Ea suck cus they charge us for mods that we can get for free, when the mods our Dev teams make could charge us when some of there mods have more things added in then the buyable addon's give us. think about it for a minute you guys.
we could make the Dev's get a crapload more money, they would expand there teams and we would have excelent mods to play even tho atm they are for free!
