View Full Version : Medic with only healing qualities?
Don't forget, you'll also need a fully medic equipped Assault player to revive anyone that gets on the wrong side of some bullets.
From the IGN Dev. Diary.
This has led me to believe that by fully equiped medic, that is the only one with defibs. Like the video from E3 that showed up recently, where the player was only throwing out medpacks and had no defibs in his inventory, this makes me think that it was only a partially equipped medic. Perhaps?

It just means that the medic kit is broken into parts. To have the full medic gear, you need to equip them all.

Nah i hate it. C'mon you can't play a kit probably until you unlock its bear essentals, that's not fun. That's a chor. I bet half of those 40 unlockables are bear essentals for a kit :p

I assume by fully equipped medic, they mean a medic with both shock paddles and med bags. I assume you could only equip one or the other to save space on your loadout.

Exactly, Ib et that at least half of the unlocks are weapons you should have got in the begining, like in BF2 where you already had the grenade launcher for the assualt and you already had the defibs for the medic. I just hope that they don't put ridiculously high points in order to unlock these basic items, such as 10,000 for defib.
However, I do think that they are doing this for teamwork. You have to choose which kit your going to specialise in, going for two kits will disrupt both kits and take longer to fully unlock. I thin by this, it encourages teamplay so that people assign different kits in squads and kits which people specialise in most i.e. has the most equipment and unlocks. But hey, i wouldn't mind having a squad full of medics!

It might be better haveing the defib as an unlock. Then you won't be raceing someone to revive someone as much. lol

Ok, let's just say Assault/Medic can use these.
1. Knife.
2. Pistol.
3. Rifle.
4. nade/shotgun attachment.
5. Medic packs.
6. Defibs.
7. Special nades (for the nade launcher).
8. EMP nade.
But, the kit only has 6 space's.
1. Knife
2. Pistol
3. Rifle
4. Nade/shotgun attachment.
Are locked.
So your left thinking, should I take.
5. Medic bags
6. Special nade's
or
5. Defibs
6. Medic bags
or
5. EMP nades
6. Defibs
I hope that medic bags and defibs dont have to be unlocked.
I feel that each kit needs to have the main parts in the begining, like with Bf2.
Medic bags, Defibs, wrenches, ammo bags and c-7 are what make each kit.
It's kinda hard to play without them.
Now if the unlocks are scope's, special nade's, EMP nade's and silencer's.
Things that the kit's dont really need to do what they do but are very helpfull none the less.
That would work.:D

Totally agree, why should we work to get the basics?

I'm onboard with Splinter as well. I think upgrading your basic load-out to make it more specialized would be the way to go. It was discussed that this game would have an RPG feel to it. So one could surmise that you can be an okay medic in the beginning, but as you rank up you gain more tools/skills of the trade and become a great medic. I obviously don't know anything, but maybe it's like the difference between an Basic EMT and paramedic? Most emergency medicine can be performed in the field by an EMT-B, but to get a truly higher level of patient care like someone that can push narcs to dull the pain and perform physician level medicine incase you’re really effed up you need a paramedic. It is only 1 basic thing per kit and it can be the first thing you unlock;)
I think the point of this is:D
It will be harder to play these kits with a major basic weapon missiong so for the first hour or so you will have to work as ateam to get enough points quickly to unlock the basic weapon.
I think it is a good idea PLUS it might not be true what i said i assumed from things i read(sorry should have stated that) any way i reckon after the 1st 6 hours of play alot of people will have 4-5 unlocks maybe more:D

Well demiz hinted that there might be than more than 2 slots to put stuff in, rember the game was at pre alpha at E3.

Well, I plan to focus on one thing. I'm willing to bet that the first 5 or so unlocks will come quickly, which is enough to completely outfit one kit and have an advantage over everyone because of it. If you spread out your unlocks, you'll end up being a grunt among a sea of soldiers, nothing special there. The best path is probably to, as I said, completely outfit one kit. Since I like infantry combat, I think its going to be assault, but I will first play as recon/sniper to gain a good K/D ratio to start off with.

lol maybe you can unlock a space for an unlock haha.
With regards to the kits being the most basic without unlocks, its trying tp persuade people to specialise in kits and instead of just switching to AT when a tank arrives at your base and kills you, you've got to try and find a guy who is AT, cover him and work as a team, distract the tank while he pops out and nails it.
In theory it works very well or very bad. If you have a balanced team who know how to work together, basically clan matches and what not then it'll work nicely.
If you don't have a balanced team and nobody at that base with the tank is Engineer with AT or Recon with C-7 then well you're in trouble.

I don't see a point in forcing people to unlock C-7 and shockpaddles.. that's just moronic. How can the recon kit utilise itself to plant traps for walkers, or medics actually be real medics if they can't blow **** up, or revive in the respective order of their mentioning?

As far as teh unlocking an unlock space they might just do that and inculde it as one fo their ablitiey unlocks.
And I think you hit the nail on the head with the reason for makeing it so you have to unlock everything.

too bad the Spec-op cant have med packs! ;) but if you got to unlock everything my first unlock will be C-7!! fo sho! and then some other usefull spec-op stuff and then some spec-op guns and then some fancy spec-op clothes and some shiny spec-op boots and ofcourse some awsome spec-op googles.. or.. thats possible, right? ;)

Well...I'm guessing that you can unlock a silencer for each class, 3 "better" guns, and equipment. My question is: If you play as recon, will there be two available weapons? Or will Spec Ops get the sniper rifle no matter what? As in...you have to unlock the special ops version weapon of the recon kit. Phew...hard to put into words.

How much time will take u to get first unlock? 20min or half an hour (they said that at least u can get 2 unlocks in an hour), then u will play as recon or medic without c7 or defib 30 min, i think that have to unlock them is not a trouble.

Nothing is sure yet, however, the beta of the game will be available very soon in August. I'm almost positive that SOME of the members of this forum will be lucky enough to participate in this great event. Though DICE will ask them to keep their mouths shut, I doubt they will, some people find it impossible to keep their mouths shut. Therefore, there will be leakage, and we'll know all the inside details of BF2142 roughly 2 months before the game's release, including unlocks, ranks, vehicles, etc... Just be patient.

I dont think that many would leak anything.
I know I would not becasue they probally with put a hardware ban on your PC for the retail version of the game or something like that.

How could they possibly do that? If you are stupid enough to download something in an email they give you telling you that you have broken the rules of the beta, and "should download this file as punishment", you deserve not to be able to play BF2142. It would save you enough time to first get an education. Like me and my mad typing skillzoroz (Previously said was not example of my mad grammar and vocab skillz)

No but they might make you give them tons of information if you want to be in the beta, so if you break teh rules they already got you by the (fill in the blank).

A way around that: pass the information secretly to a member of these/other forums. Then, infomation could be leaked by an anonomous source, such as you or me. Since we didn't give our information to DICE, we'll be OK, but the entire community can still learn about all of the new features..etc..etc..
PS. I'm not ENCOURAGING you to do this...but if you want, you can PM me with information about the game, and I'll share it with everyone, accrediting it to you, but allowing you to stay anonomous..if you're a DICE member...uhh...I swear I wasn't trying to release secrets..the big people made me do it i swears.

If they want to keep stuff secret in the Beta and I get the chance to test it, I wont be saying anything. Everything needs to be tested, weather it's buy some 50,000 random players or by 10 guy's locked in EA's basement.

I hope that the defibs wont be unlocks, I hope they will be an option from the start. Otherwise you take away from the medics primary ability that no other class has.... would there be a sniper with no sniper gun or an AT guy with no AT rocket also? Also while I am thinking about it.... I hate when medics revive you while you are still under fire- There was a guy yesterday playing on Warlord that kept reviving me and running away in the hallway where people were chucking grenades. I swear he doubled my death rate for that round cause I would not even get a chance to stand before I as dead again!

I think you will have basic gun you need just none of the frills which is cool I think just becasue it gives you more to do.
