I wonder if they will do the Beta demo through something like IGN or Fileplanet? where paid subscribers get in on it?

That would be a good marketing plot for those sites but then the community would know that they (DICE, actually more like EA) aren't 100 percent concerded about getting the best beta test group.

beta should be alot of fun, I cannot wait to get in and take a part of it, also why play demo when u can still be in beta, they usually do beta testing for a game until its released

No, they do BETA before the game goes gold.

I am sure that the public BETA servers will shut down once they get to final.

Good point, they might give subscriber's a better chance but if they did people would not be happy, better to just release it to the public.
How big do you reckon it might be, the Bf2 demo was about 600mb, the beta could be 1gig plus:hmm:

thats why people should get Subscribers account just in case, its not even that much, I am a subscriber on fileplanet only and its cheap, liek $6 per month cheap.

There was a new press release from EA today that mentioned BF2142, still has Fall 2006 as the release date

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., July 12, 2006 –Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) today revealed more than 20 game titles that round out its 2006 line-up. With an unparalleled mix of action, adventure, sports and racing games........

.....Battlefield 2142 is developed by Digital Illusions/DICE Sweden and is slated to ship for PC this Autumn.

I DONT pay for or buy anything over the net, I just wont, my decision.
Doesnt matter if it's e-bay or something else, no buying over over the net for me.
Oh and I dont have a credit card either.

Thats the reason why I reckon EF and AF floped for Bf2, only releasing it over the net to save money and hassels was pretty stupid IMHO.
An in-store retail game will always out sell a "only available over the net" game

But there was an artical or interview that said they want people who have played BF2 and most fileplanet subscribers have not so i dont think they will do that;)

Fileplanet is easy to bypass. You really don't need to join, and they allow any bandwidth of download so long as you wait in line. A good way to grab a popular file, is to check in and download at some...3 AM in the morning or so. Another way is to wait in line, and leave your computer on, the latter is the best choice!

I think Fileplanet has become so popular, that there's a wait of about 20mins no matter what time you go there, it's still my number 1 source for stuff, I've never gotten a bad download from them, I get good speed's and with the DL manager, I can pause DL's as well:D

Ok as soon as anyone spots registration forms/sites where you can apply for beta testing, plz post them here. Im going to be on vacation for three weeks with only limited access to the i-net, and I'm scared as hell I'm going to miss the beta:p

It want work like this. So you can't just wait in line if its a MEMBERs exclusive beta testing demo. Just like how they did an exclusive FEAR beta demo for Fileplanet members only. You couldn't wait in line for it..its locked out from the public servers.

I think Fileplanet would be a good way for EA/Dice to make money by making a deal with fileplanet and get all the beta testing they need at the same time. I mean they do have a dedicated BF2 page over at FP.

How big do you reckon it might be, the Bf2 demo was about 600mb, the beta could be 1gig plus

More than likely it will be similar in size to the demo. Just like other beta tests it's usually just 1 or 2 maps with the basics..I'd imagine it would be very similar to what the bf2142 demo would be, but with a few more bugs and missing possibly a few things.

I DONT pay for or buy anything over the net, I just wont, my decision.

Game developers are moving in the direction of the internet for releasing there game because they can make more money and charge less for it..it cuts out the middle man. Steam is one company thats made a killing off downloaded full retail games..HL2, CS:S, etc.

There is no reason not to purchase things online these days..if you just go to places like reseller ratings.com you can check the best rated resellers. Most everything out there is very secure to order from. granted it is nice to have a hard copy in hand, but you can save your self a lot of trouble and gas by not having to go out and buy it..plus online you get it earlier than the hard copy release.

I actually like the idea of the EA downloader.... you can D/L it and have it forever since the record of you buying it is in their system. You dont need the disc in your drive all the time and you can never lose the disc either. If you reformat, you can get it again no problem. Great idea for me!

yeah, dice/ea could release the beta over the ea downloader for a fee. But More people have fileplanet subrscriptions probably than EA downloader right now since the ea downloader is still fairly new.

I mean I hope every hardcore BF2142 fan gets a fair chance at getting into the beta test phase. With the Fear beta demo on fileplanet they only released the beta for download to members for like a certain time period..like a week or something and then it was cut off from being downloaded anymore.

I know I want this game so bad I'll pay full retail price just to get in the beta test phase.
