I was looking at the news on the homepage and found this...

DICE is pleased to announce that we will be rewarding our loyal BF2 community by giving them exclusive benefits for enlisting with Battlefield 2142 when it comes out this October.

Does that mean if your pre-order you get extra goodies? something like that

I was thinking they meant that if you use your gamespy account log on, that then you'd get "whatever"

I'm not going to risk it...I'm planning to preorder. I really messed up with kingdom hearts...I chose not to preorder, and missed out on final mix, I was sooo pissed, and kept offering 30 bucks and my normal game for his final mix version, didn't work out.:D It's about time, we finally get recognition for spending all those hours in front of the computer! Mr. Benis brought up ranks as a possible extra, I'm guessing that maybe, just maybe, we will either get an unlock, or a special community unlock that everyone who played Bf2 gets, and isn't available to people who only just bought BF2142. Anyways, I hope its an unlock, those 40 sound intimidating to gain...its going to be tuff.

I'm going to bet it's "You get to keep your player name" deal like what Activision was going to do for pre-orders of Quake War (early name registration). They already said that other players in game will be able to tell if you play/played BF2 (if you want to show people).

Its not "get the golden ticket". You'll just log in, probably log in using your old account and passoword, it will register, and you will have the extras.

I dont want my Bf2 name, I would like to change it, maybe the gift is we get to pick our name's early so no one else can get them, or maybe it's a free unlock or something, either way I'm gettin something:D:D:D

Splinter...we already talked about it...you can change your name whenever you want. If getting online, and starting up a new account is more fun than using your old account for 2 seconds to get an unlock, then thats fine by me.;) Goddamn....waiting for this game is getting sorta long. I'm trying my best..but its still...3 more months until it comes out. Once school starts..I'll have more than enough to do to forget about waiting. I can't play BF2 until July 26...well whatever. I can always eat rice.:D

A persons name in this online game is very important. Anyone with numbers in their name is taken less seriously than someone with actual words.

Hence MrBenis works quite well.

I don't really care what exactly the special treatment is, I just think its nice to at least recognize the loyalty and reward it at all. I mean it could be a Spongebob Squarepants figure from a Burger King Kids Meal and I would be like "Hell Yeah! I needed the Mexican Sombrero Spongebob figure to complete my collection."

In other words, no matter how insignificant it is, its nice that they at least recognize us with anything.

They said about rewarding BF2 veterans, but I wander what do they mean by that - a person with 500 or 1000 global hours? or like the highiest ranks <ex.from Colonel...>

I think they meant ANYONE who uses the same gamespy account from BF2 on BF2142.

Giving a tangeable reward based solely on hours would be defunct and lame..

Miniman

maybe i can get Miniman, not Miniman125, although ill need to get on early in the Demo. in the Beta(ill miss it :( ) do you pick a username? or do you use default names?

I hope thats not the case, I hate these clan tags.

I hope the way that they show people who have palyed BF2 in BF2142 will be by showing you BF2 rank adn your 2142 rank.

You mean like CO-OP....??? Then it wouldnt record your points and would have a ''game will start when 1 more player(s) join ALL game... Unless your talking about something other than co-op, which I would like to knpw how to...

Nope...not for lan at least. But make sure that you do what Benis says and add bots. If you try to start it with people..what will happen is that you will be alone on the server...pretty sad.:D

When I get a new game, I always start a SP game before joining MP.
Just to get the feel for the map's, weapons and vehicel's.
Better to prac then to turn up looking like a fool:D

I don't think that veterans are going to be surprised at the gameplay when playing, more importantly, vets who are up-to-date with information will be even less surprised. Who knows? You might be selected for the open beta, and will have an enormous headstart on all of us other people. Also...off topic: what server are you guys filming on? I'm a member of Battleforce, which I believe is lending you guys filming servers. :D Also, I took the liberty of correcting your post...I'm doing English homework right now.:|:
