I recently re-installed game, and I was downloading the patch and the bit-rate kept fluttering up and down. It used to be steady around the 45/50 KB/sec mark but it's going as low as 27 KB/sec and back up and it's taking forever to download what should have only been MAYBE an hour long download.

This is also conflicts with my game. My ping is horrible at 200+ when before I re-installed it was around 30-60. I closed EVERY un-nessisary background program, cleared disk space, de-fragged my computer, and anything you can name I did it.

My system specs aren't important, my game worked pearly great before I re-installed. My connection normally isn't this horrible, I can load a page with normal speed but when it come to downloading I have to to drive to Indiana and back [I'm from Louisiana!].

Any suggestions shy of beating my ISP with a bag of panda droppings and cupcakes?:salute:

You said you have shut down background applications. So:

1) Make sure that no other computer in your house is updating or downloading anything.

2) It could be the usage of the INternet in your area. Lots of people doing stuff like downloading will affect your ping.

Well #2 would be problem but... I live in the middle of nowhere lol! But yeah there is one computer but it was shutdown during the whole ordeal... I have DSL, not cable if that helps?

Now that my game is patched, I run Vent to talk to the clan but that slows my game down! I don't want to have to shut down vent so is there anyway to speed up BF 2 short of that? :salute:

It could be server-side load where the download is coming from if downloads are slow. Try making sure that your computer is the only one plugged in at the time and that Windows Update is not downloading at the same time you are playing.

I think that there is a way to reduce bandwidth in the Vent settings, at least there is in TS.

if u use vent to talk maybe u can try turning off VOIP in the audio options of the game

I did turn em off and it worked a little better but the "Problem With Your Connection" at a ping of 45 keeps coming up. Ever since I ****ing patched the game EA screwed me over. DAM IT!
