:salute: Hello all, im new to BF2 and this forum.

I recently went out and bought The Deluxe Edition BF2. It comes with the original and the expansion.

After installing the game, i had the common freeze problem.

but after adjusting some settings, it cooled down. but then later came up again.

I found online a solution is to reinstall.

This is probably a common problem, so i apologize, but after the second disk is put in, it stops at a certain level and says it cant install and to try over.

I've tried to manually install, but to no avail.

Help is much appreciated

Nothing?

yep, whats your spec, plus it might be getting very hot in your PC casuing the CPU or GFX card to stop working.

plus have you patched to 1.41 or cant you even get that far now?

Dude, easiet way is to put the bf2 disk in, when the little window comes up, thers a button there that says "Easy Info" hit that , highlight right click hit copy, put your cursor here, right click hit paste, easiest way for peep to see what u got.

will look like this>>>

you need to update your direct X, and get your nvidia drivers, that should take care of it, looked like everyting else passed unless i missed something. Heres a nice site, scan with them to see if you pass everything, just hit the drop down box & look for battlefield 2 , then hit "can i run it button"http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

also i'd look into my process's seems like 69 is alot to be running in the background, but if ya dont know what ur doing dont mess with it. but the link above is easy to do . lemme know if ya passed or failed. if you fail, it will give u recommendations, also where you hit the "easy info button" there's a nividia driver button there, i have a radeon so i dont know about it, but i'm guessing you need to update your driver there.

besta luck

Thanks a bunch bro

Ok.
So seeing as how i have the expansion pack with bf2 and special forces, i tried both games seperately, and it said that i passed both minimum and reccomended for both games.

It did say this,
Video Card Driver Version (DirectX)
Your driver version number is: 6.14.10.9148 FYI: Your video card driver version is provided for your information, but it is not part of this analysis. But proper video card driver versions are important to the proper operation of your product

And there is a button that says, free driver update

so..now i have you update those?

ok, i downloaded GEforce 8 series.

Would that be the correct thing to do?

well you can update your driver, i think thats what its saying is that there's a update available. If you passed everything i'd leave it alone, now the nividia thing i dont know nothing about i never owned a Gforce, i'm sure there good cards.

i'd try to reinstall again, reboot first, then try to reinstall, if it wont then something is corrupt, i'd go manually take it out, or did u run the uninstall? if not run the uninstall, take it out, then reinstall, get the latest patches, enter & setup your key codes for the EU & AF, and worse comes to worse, if it wont uninstall like you said it just stopped, you have to go to start/my computer/C: drive/programs/EA games, highlight & delete, then try to reinstall.

but I dont see why the uninstall wouldnt work.

hope this helps.

yeah if everything is passing then your system should be able to play the game, sounds like that you just need to uninstall & reinstall & get the patch, i think 1.41 from EA website is the latest.

Ok, let me understand, you installed it, wasnt working right, but did u uninstall it before you try to reinstall? even if you didnt I dont know why it wouldnt overwrite & install anyway. but yeah i'd completely uninstall, then search to see if any file is left, delete them, then do complete reinstall & download the latest patch , install it, then boot up game & see how it works.

when it gets to that stop point was thee a error message?

let me know i'm curious if ya get it.

Ok, now do u have the game uninstalled? or are you tryn to install over your first installation? try uninstalling compleely, look in your add remove programs make sure nothing with Battlefield is in there, if it is uninstall it, then reinstall, that should fix it.

post when ya can find out

no, just peek into your control panel, add remove programs & make sure nothing with battlefield is in there, if there is uninstall it, then try reinstall.

opc_tim

well, i checked and didnt find anything with bf2

cant find anything then it should install, try it again, first run "disk cleanup" after that check ur nividia driver, go to your start/control panel/display/settings/advance tab/adapter/properties/driver, then hit update driver, to make sure your driver is ok, then try to reinstall, if that dont work go to this webistehttp://forums.filefront.com/bf2-problems-errors-help/281039-how-manually-uninstall-bf2-prevent-issues.html
Follow those directions, its guide from EA about how to completely uninstall, it has to be gospel way or you will have probs.
anyway do that, then try to reinstall again, lettme know how works after that

I check back thise evening
