The Project Reality (http://www.realitymod.com/) mod has been featured today on the Battlefield Portal (http://www.battlefield.ea.com/battlefield/bf/battlefieldnewsdetail.aspx?site_id=UU1COM5Y-ZEUW-FIC6IS62&storyid=14033) with a nice overview about the latest version. Take a look:

Version 0.6 of Project Reality was released this week bringing with it a massive list of changes and additions including an overhauled commander assets system and new Militia Faction.

If you've not played the mod before you might be wondering what it's all about. Well, the clue is obviously in the title - they're striving to create a mod that's as realistic as possible. Kits such as Crewman, AA Rifleman, Sniper and Pilot are limited and must be requested before you can fly a jet, use artillery and so on. An important part of the commander role involves deploying assets such as bunkers, sand bags and artillery which then need to be built using the shovel kit item that many classes come with.

They've also got numerous new game modes, weapons, skins and more with a full British faction in the works. For a game built on the same engine with a similar focus on modern warfare, the team have already done well in creating gameplay that feels very different to Battlefield 2.

Overall the gameplay pace is slightly more measured as it only takes a few bullets to kill you, placing a strong emphasis on cautious movement, tactical play and team work. It's not for the feint hearted but if realism is your thing then you'll be pleased to hear they've already done a great job using the Battlefield 2 engine to achieve just that.

Great to see this mod being featured on the BF Portal site!

I keep telling myself I need to download and continue playing this. I really liked it back when I played it a year ago.

Do it! Much has changed for the better from that time. Just be sure to read the quick guide before you start to play.

I'll just squad up with the 20 cats I know on this site that play it and roll with them. Or look up DesertFox.

Yeah, I know DesertFox. Just download, hook up with him and play with him the first couple of rounds so he can show you the ropes.

Oh yeah, I forgot, go here to find a place from where to download it from:
