Ok I've tried it, I'ved Wiki'ed it, I've searched the forums, they all failed alas...I am an idiot.
Does any have a link or instructions on how to do VoIP in the BF2 game. I have the gear, I think I can do it..., or do I need to buy one of those mic/ear phone combo gizmos.

You need a microphone to be able to transmit your voice across the net so others can hear you.
BF2 has it's own VOIP. Some servers have it enabled, some do not. Just join a squad and press 'b' and a green little microphone will show up in the right hand corner of the screen. You can also talk to your team as the commander using 'v'.
It's pretty simple. You just have to install it with Bf2 and play in a VOIP enabled server. You absolutely will need a mic!
Hope this helps a bit.

I believe "V" is used by a squad leader to talk to the commander. The commander just selects the squad to comm with in the command screen and uses "B". I've binded the "push to talk" key (B) to one of my mouse's two side buttons so it makes it more easier to use in battle.
I use a Plantronic Gamecon 1 headset BTW.

Oh ya. Forgot about that. Thanks dude.
I don't command much, but you can talk to your squads as commander by also using 'v', right?

yeah it works both ways.
B is used to talk to everybody in your squad, if your a squad leader or member
V is used between squad leaders and commanders to communicate.

B also works for commanders to comm with squads. It must work because I had a rockin' round as commander on Midnight Sun (AF) a few days ago. It was the first time I used VOIP as commander and I got a lot of positive (vocal) feedback as a result. One felt proud to be of service. :salute:

Are you absolutely sure? I dont think B does anything while your commander.

if you used the default BF2 install properties you have nothing to worry about.
the only way it wont install with bf2 is if you did a custom install and unclicked the box for voip

Noble Rotter, what sorts of things do you say? I enjoy playing as commander and squad leader and would love to be better able to help win the game, but I am often unsure what to say that cannot be "said" with the built-in phrases. Also, how do people know you are talking to THEM? Or vice-versa? Quite often I have heard potentially useful comments over voip but had no idea who they may have been directed at...
Thanks!

OK I got it up & running, must have been using servers w/o VoIP, I might need to upgrade the teamspeak gear I have, but it's working either way, thanks for the help men, now just getting them to use the tactics I offer:hmm:
Again Thanks for the education:salute:
