I have noticed a few polls that have lost all votes in the merge, and does not accept new ones.

There could well be more, but these are the ones I have seen.

ETA: And I think this thread has the wrong poll attached: http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/main/showthread.php?t=57836

This is getting a bit silly, I voted in a BF 2 Poll and suddenly find myself in another poll in offtopic.
But the Poll question remained the same.

then i suggest stop voting on polls until we can get it sorted if it bothers you that much.

we have other priorities that need handled first :salute:

It doesn't bother me, I thought I was providing constructive feedback.
A simple list of known issues would prevent us bothering you with issues you are already aware of.

Ah, a simple miscommunication then. :)
I was of course using this form of silly
2. absurd; ridiculous; irrational: a silly idea.
And was referring to the experience of mixed-up polls, not the intellectual capabilities of the staff.
No insult intended.

I do realize that you have 6000 PMs from unhappy users after such a merge. ;)

Me has a giggle :dead:

There are a few bugs here and there, but its been such a great transition.

I just voted in the best OS poll, and it brought me to "should BF2 SF be for free?" in TBF2. The results are also screwed too, with only a single bar that's glitched with no number. Maybe we should completely restart the community polls.

Also, on TBF2 (maybe other sites as well) polls and poll titles are mixed randomly with the actual posts.

Polls are linked to threads which are linked to forums, resyncing, etc. is required to update the polls and get counts in order. Voting in polls that are currently showing incorrectly may cause problems when fixing polls comes up on the list. The reason you are not able to vote in the poll is because your vote has still been registered for that poll.

Rebuilding the counts will take awhile once that part comes up on the list. Think of it like grading papers for all of the schools in the world manually. As someone will have to sit there and wait for the process to complete which can take hours :D and even after waiting it still may not work:D give it a few weeks after an announcement of completion has been made.

Many people will not realize that the polls are broken, since they often look OK until you vote.
But I guess the worst that can happen is that they will have to delete the affected polls. They rarely contain valuable information anyway ;)

Well, here's the recount post description in the admin CP.

This will recalculate all of your user's post counts based on their CURRENT posts in the database. Do not run this if you have pruned posts, manually changed post counts, or imported from another forum package and you wish to maintain your users' current counts. Your members' post counts will PROBABLY decrease so only run this if you believe you really need to! Once they decrease you can not bring them back up without restoring your database or manually editing each user. You have been warned!

I've tried redoing several other counters and thread references which could have caused this problem, but they didn't correct the problem. I get the distinct feeling that if I did recount the posts and someone's post count dropped dramatically (and some would), I would get flamed forever more (and get flooded with PMs about "Fix my post count!"). Besides, I'm pretty sure this wouldn't actually fix the problem.

I am fairly confident that nothing that could be done in any moderate amount of time would fix this problem. In my opinion (I haven't looked at the database, mind you), some of the references just got borked in the move. As for exactly how to fix it, we're looking at manually editing all those rows.

Cant you just identify a few important polls, and then create identically (working) polls and merge the threads?.

Sure the votes will be reset, but if people care they can just vote again.

And the rest of the polls could just have the polls closed to prevent any confusion. The threads are usually the interesting part anyway.

Absolutely! Post in this thread links to the affected threads (both the new poll and the old thread) and I'll be more than happy to merge them.

Good thinking. :salute:

Restart the poll forum. It's the only way! :0 (and besides, some of us would like a clean slate to start polls on, revote and everything.)
