Hi, a posting in community polls made me take notice of this part of the rules:
5 - Politics.
-Put simply, this isn't a political forum. If you are in need of a good argument with someone then there are plenty of other forums specializing in this elsewhere.
-You are free to post news about current events all you like but the first person to turn it into a political rant will have their account status reviewed. For additional information see section 6 & 7).
-This also applies to signatures, avatars and usernames or for people constantly dragging up the anti-politics rule.

I haven't really given it much thought before because I spend most of my time in the game specific forums, were politics are obviously off topic.

But what about the off-topic and community polls sections, does the "no politics" rule also apply there?

I think those are the rules that are enforced across the whole board.

Its not saying you cant discuss current affairs, its just saying you cant go all extremist on the current government ;).

There isn't many political discussions where one part doesn't view the other as a ranting extremist. :D
The general good behaviour rules already in effect should also cover those situations where political discussions get out of hand.

But I understand that political discussion are more flammable than most, so the mods might just want to avoid the hassle.

sone of the mods are keeping an eye on the thread, so if it gets out of hand it will be dealt with.

That somehow doesn't make me feel safer ;)

So is it OK to discuss political topics in the off-topic / poll sections, as long as they don't evolve into flaming?

Yes, but somehow that's all they ever turn into so we try to stop them before they get to that point. But if you want to, you can try and see what happens with one.

Thanks, I will do my best to behave :)

If someone dose post a un-needed "flame" post, don't flame back. Report the post and it will get taken care of.
