Weapon skins

I'm a big CS:S fan and enjoy my skinned weapons and characters greatly, especially how they can be used on any server at any time, unless the server checks for file inconsistencies, or is smarter and has sv_pure set. Will CoD4 allow for people to skin their weapons in such an easy way without so few problems, or will skins be unallowed like, BF2142?

And no, I'm not a noob looking for free gold guns or dots for my snipers =P

If the server is pure, the server would have to have the skins for you to be able to use them. You and everybody else in the server would have to have them to play on the server, but you can download files off of the server in Call of Duty so it's not really like the BF series with custom files. You won't be able to join a server that doesn't have the skins and see weapons with the skins you have (some people would abuse this and make people and weapons bright colors).

I'm pretty sure if the server isn't pure, you can use your own skins, but most servers that I played on during the days of old CoD, were pure. It might be hard for you to find servers for that though. I might be wrong about that though.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

And thank you to all the asshats who exploit a good thing. And here I was hoping for my 92 Elite skin of an M9 and revolver for the deagle, lol.
