Im not much of a computer person. I dont know how people make mods and all this cool stuff that works with games. But i have some cool ideas for some levels.
This first level is called Night Fight or Night Fall
Im a cod vet and ive been in a cod clan for 3-4 years. So one of the best sniping levels in cod 1 was hurtgen. A wide open map with snow. Now i would kinda like to see this map remade but with a twist. First keep the same layout but add more trenches and less bunkers. Get ride of the snow. Put lots or grass and trees. Make it were you can clime more trees. O and its night. So its a wide open forest with a river in the middle that you can walk in. Lots of grass and trees some that you can clime in to like you could in cod 1. Its very very dark. So its a great night time sniping level. But rifles and other guns are good too. Because its night and you can flank and stay in cover easy. Muzzle flashes will give positions away.
This second level is called Prison or Prison Break
This level is something that has never been done in cod by IW. A 100% inside level with 4 floors. Now i think there should be a mod for this level. Ands its the sas vs the russians but the russians where pows. So they spawn with no weapons. But they is a weapon room very close to there spawn. The sas spawn on the bottom and they are have all there guns. They also have attack dogs that wont attack them but will follow then and attack the russians. In the war room there are guns with more then one attachment. Grenades you name it. Its there. Mp44s what ever you can grab. Very heavy fire power. There are stairs and elevators. Theres air vents and bathrooms with tile that explode like the matrix. This is a high class prison and some parts there should be glass floors where you can see to the low floor and shoot at people. The game mode is to blow up the security censor for s&d And let all bot prisoners.
So lets review. Night Fight or Night Fall. A lot like hurtgen in the shape of the level. But night and not winter. More trenches and hiding spots. But its still wide open and you can clime in some trees to get a better view.
Prison or Prison Break 100% inside level and theres 4 floors. Attack dogs. Weapon room. Security censors.
This is just some ideas of level i would make if i knew how to make level for a game like cod 4.

First, good. Second, bad. Your first idea would be very popular on "sniper" servers, if made properly. Your second idea, everybody would try to be on S.A.S., unbalancing the teams.
Yea the second sounds like something from AAO... it wouldn't be too cool.

Hmm well i was just trying to think of new idea to mix up gameplay. Maybe someone can make the first level real when the mapping tools come out.

Since some parts of the game are in the Middle East, I think a good map would be in the Oil Fields. Make it a nite map where one team has to blow up an oil pipeline or something to that effect and the other has to defend and once blown then has to extinguish and cap the fire. Keep it objective based.

This person over at the IW.com forums posted his thoughts on how to expand the existing maps to increase the playing area...some of these ideas aren't bad at all...
Okay so one thing most of us realize is that simply "larger" maps is not a great answer for a game where your character is highly limited in its ability to traverse long distances quickly. Nothing will be more frustrating and quickly abandoned than large maps that require many minutes to reach the other side, especially when you die and have to start all over way back at the beginning.
As far as map size goes, it's a misconception to think that what we need are simply "larger" maps for the sake of being larger. Already several maps offer sniping locations that reach as far as what a person can actually see through a high-power scope in the game. (c.f. spots on Crossfire, Ambush, Bloc, Pipeline, District, Countdown, Overgrown, WetWorks, etc).
What is really needed on some maps are added areas vertically (i.e. new floors or sub-areas) within their existing size or within just slightly larger boundaries. A number of the existing maps have a lot of untapped potential to increase their capacity to handle larger numbers of players without feeling quite as crowded. This by building out currently shelled structures or added floors/levels to certain parts of a map.
Now, some maps are pretty much perfect the way they are because they're very well balanced and offer exceptional gameplay for small groups, which is still a very necessary thing to have. A map like Showdown is really well done, because it has a deceivingly simple design yet offers either spawn four pathways to attack the map center or the enemy spawn. This map doesn't need anything else. Other maps that are just about right are Backlot, District, Pipeline, Vacant, and Strike.
But several maps would definitely benefit from some growth, especially as a way to meet the needs of servers hosting 16+ slots, as many are.
Examples:
WetWorks
This map is a bit mind-numbing because there's really only one main area of traverse for the entire map and with more than about 16 people it's just Airstrike soup.
Build out the interior of the ship. One or two interior levels with the catwalks over cargo areas ala the singleplayer map, some hallways, etc.
This instantly doubles or triples the size of the map without adding needless space that costs a lot of extra time to traverse. You can still make it to the opposite spawn area in the same amount of time but you've just added several more distinct routes to get there.
Downpour
This map currently suffers the most from the unlimited machine guns. If machine guns aren't going to be given an overheat mechanism, this map is a prime target for some route expansion, since currently there are only two routes from one spawn to the other and they're both extremely chokepointed (a crawlspace in the wall and a doorway directly in one machine gun's line-of-fire. I'd like to see a second floor to that building that runs along one side of the map, connecting to the other smaller building that's next to it further along the same side of the map.
Possibly also a small sewer tunnel system added that runs along the other side of the map from the spawn barn on the greenhouse side of the map, under the wall and two silos and comes out in the far field with the chopped down trees that rarely sees any use in most matches.
Ambush
Ambush might benefit from an expansion of the storm drains that run under the road in the middle, into a true tunnel system that includes a new exit near each spawn.
Bog
Bog could open up the buildings along the side to offer some warehouse-style combat areas, including some two-level structures and even access to roof sniping locations which would break up some of the bog-area combat a bit and put some pressure on the existing sniper locations out in the bog.
Bloc
The two narrow buildings just don't cut it for more than about 12 people. I'd love to see this map expanded slightly on the sides, with two more buildings, more floors that are usable in the existing buildings, and the blocked-off buildings at each end of the map given functional fire escapes and insides.
There could also be back alleys added to the sides of the map outside of the two existing buildings, to balance the added sniper positions in the end buildings covering the open center area. These alleys would offer a way to build out the rest of the interior of the two current buildings, plus add usable building fronts & half-depth interiors on the new outside buildings of the alleys that form the new map boundaries.
That probably sounds a bit confusing, so picture something like this:

Btw the buildings on the existing Bloc map have many more floors than the two you can access, it's just the fire escapes are blocked off by furniture piles or are gated off, and the upper floors aren't actually built. If they finished and opened up those that would be huge.
Countdown
Countdown's a great map as-is, but perhaps a separate Extended version could offer an interior complex below the surface, similar to the sp map, but with access from both spawns and an open-air maintenance catwalk access up the side elevator/ventilation shafts (replacing the ridiculously bad-for-gameplay singleplayer ventilation system entry that would just be shotgun camping heaven in mp). This would be a great way to offer two extensive and engaging combat areas (surface and sub-surface) to support large-scale combat for servers hosting 24+ people.
Crash
Crash is one map that could stand some expansion out to the sides since it's a relatively small map and adding a couple more usable buildings off to the side of the map by the sniper alley that runs between the spawns would be nice.
Shipment
Obviously serves a purpose as-is (to annoy some people and to be a break from the real maps for others), but a Shipyard map would be cool. It would include the docks and buildings that expand out around the current Shipment map, though obviously the three buildings that all use the same sign would need some new signs on their storefronts so people could describe them uniquely for giving orders or reporting contact to teammates. Wink.
The buildings would have interiors and perhaps there's even an accessible drainage system running under the map that empties city sewers into the bay. This would have three or four access ladders or ramps around the map and of course big grates blocking the bay exits so people don't just walk off into the water and drown Wink
Overgrown
Pretty close to fine as-is, but maybe finish the interiors of the buildings along the one edge of the map running from the gas station to the other team's spawn, so they can be entered and used for cover and firing positions. If one of these offered a second floor that peeked out between the two primary buildings on that side of the map that border the ditch/valley, it would offer a place to snipe across to the farm side of the map.
Not huge changes, but again, making use of existing map features to encourage more combat in currently low-trafficked areas of the map. This keeps the overall yardage in check (by not making maps bigger, just filling out the details) while expanding the ability for the maps to handle more players.
Crossfire
Another map that's large enough as-is, from a length/width perspective. But there are also areas of the map that could be built out or completed to offer alternate routes for larger servers to make use of. If you look at the map's design it's basically a large square but only three quarters of it are used to form the "L" shaped road route. The other quadrant could be developed into usable play area in an Expanded map version for larger servers to play.
This would provide a new leg to the road (making a "U" instead of just an "L") with sniping overlook spots in buildings, and a fourth route from spawn to spawn, with usable building space bordering it. This would also turn the half-alleys in the center of the map into full east-west alleys that connect the two roads, further interleaving the routes and changing the funnel dynamic of the current map.
Anyway, these are just some thoughts. I'd love to see IW offer some brand new maps, but I'd also love to see more done to fill out these maps to their potential, especially for larger servers. You can tell the mp maps were designed with the X360's player limits in mind, but for the PC where servers host a heck of a lot more folks, a few Extended versions of existing maps would be great. The best part is, the type of changes offered above would still keep the maps pretty playable for smaller groups too.

I had an idea exactly like your first, and I was actually going to post it somewhere on here soon. Looks like my job is done.
I would also like the ability to call in parachute flares, (like you do air strikes and UAV, but cooler! :yay:). I know that night vision makes them useless, but maybe it can be disabled for this map. One serious problem arises. Obviously, it would be benefiting everybody even if a single person calls it. And I see no way of working around this, maybe somebody else has an idea.
A parachute flare is an illumination device that covers a wide area, launched by artillery. Fired in the air which then it escapes its canister, self lights, and slowly drops to the ground via a small, deployed parachute. What I personally think would be is that way it would sway back and forth during its descent, creating shadows amongst the trees.

Make it a night map. Then we can throw in Todd's idea of some flares. And if the mapping tools come out, since I map quite a bit, I'll make one. And I will draw up some plans for some trenches if anyone wants some. I would like the idea of the flares, and/or artillery in stead of air strikes in a mod. make it so you have to use strategy and team work to get to a new area. maybe I'll draw up a symmetrical map, with 3 sets of trenches, with a neutral set in the middle that you can overtake. Would be pretty freakin' sweet. Make it far enough away, that you can't throw grenades.
On grenade subject, make a new special grenade, a hand thrown flare. 1 per player, except for the 3x special grenade perk. Flare would last like 3-4 seconds, and you can lob it in an area, and have someone observe quickly the area you are heading.
I would also like some pill boxes in here, only accessible by underground tunnels to it. So to kill the guy, you have to get close enough to toss in a few 'nades, or have a sharp shooter pick him off if you can get a shot.
I'll throw some plans together. :D

Well the few times I've tried mapping I've sucked at it, but I'll help anyone who needs it since I want to get better lol.
Anyway, I want a mountain map. A few cabins, snowy, lots of foxholes, maybe even a rotating weather cycle if possible.

the problem with trench maps is that unless its hardcore or the map is very wel set out it will just be all run and gun which will take away the point of having trenches... a few map ideas i wish to have made for the Aussie mod are some jungle/forest/bush maps large areas to allow proper use of tactics and to give the sniper a real home :p... also some large scale urban maps would be good with plenty of buildings/ruins to hide in and a tunnel system wouldnt be to bad...

I think I'm the only one that throws around that word. And it's funny, I hate that word in real lie. people my age have no idea what it really means, and i see people using it all the time. Sad really.
the problem with trench maps is that unless its hardcore or the map is very wel set out it will just be all run and gun which will take away the point of having trenches...
I only play hardcore..and i would want this only played on hardcore...and all game plays are all run and gun anyways.

In the same trip of a commercial mall, I was thinking about a casino map, then I remembered some rainbow six vegas maps that could be ported.

On, that last image we can imagine marines spawns inbase, and ennemies spawns outbase.
Base would have few entrences and should look like a fortress with heavy riffle turrets around the wall.
Rock hills would have nice sniping spots to cover team assault...
Also wish to find some cod4 sp campaign maps ported, like tv station, the russian village on the hill and many others.
(just heard that maps are locked, and we can't reach'em... apart blackout and backlot...
is it true ? If yes that's really sad because there are lot of'em that are a must have in mp)
Btw, I think i'm gonna enjoy every maps in there...

I saw that. He could also probably recreate several other BF2 maps, since BF2 reuses models/buildings (a lot), and all he'd have to do is create the terrain (basically).

I think what would be a really interesting map would be to create a very large map for snipers, i guess you could call it a sniping map. As it is now all the maps are small to where there really is not a whole lot of room for sniping ( please no one start with the hes a camper replys...lol) I dont snipe a lot if at all but it would open up for some interesting game play from that standpoint I think.
Also maybe a Hotel map idea where the entire battle takes place in a high rise building with many rooms and floors.

How about a cruise ship. Have inside an out side a bridge. maybe one of those big dinning halls and a casino. Would be sexy tbh imo.
I tried to learn how the ModTools work, so I could make a really heavily forested map, but its so damn complicated. So I gave up =(

I think the cruise ship idea is pretty good.
Wet works sucks in that everything is on deck. yet the level has the potential of being a great close quarters combat arena if they put below deck hallways in that map. For the moment, wetworks just feels incomplete.
