Definitely the 8800gt...Nearly as good as the GTS and nearly half the price

And get an extra gig of RAM

Your current card AGP or PCI-E?

Make sure you have a decent PSU if you go for the 8800 card. You might need a new Mother Board if your 6600 is agp card. It won't have a PcIE slot on it for the newer card.

you can find that BFG 8800GTS 320 for about $310 ...pricegrabber.com, don't settle for less (if all you will ever play is BF2, nevermind)

If the processor is a P4 3.2GHz (Prescott or Northwood), then a 8800 is overkill. I would suggest a 8600GT or GTS. You will not benefit from a faster card if your CPU bottlenecks the system. An extra gig of ram is a must.

Open the side panel and look on the sticker that should be on the PSU. It will have the max amperage listed for each power rail. The +12V rail(s) matter the most and should have a combined output of at least 20A for mid-range cards (8600 etc). Considerably more for high end ones.

You'll be fine playing CoD4. Runs fine on my PC. Now Crysis, I doubt you'll get much fun out of it on a Pentium 4...
