so i recently started a new soldier to deal with tards without ruining my stats and online reputation. it's been 3 days, and somehow playing without having to care about stats is fun - no need to TAB before spawning to see if teams are stacked, etc.
Funnily enough though this new soldier has a marginally higher KDR than my main BG soldier =D it's mostly cos 2142 was my first FPS and my KDR sucked at first (it plunged to the depths of 0.09 back when i was a corporal or smth), but it's pretty amazing to see how much i've improved, even without unlocks.
which brings me to my second point - unlocks. it feels pretty crippled starting from scratch. you run for about 2 meters and have to pant and recover for 5 minutes =\
i've found that engy is a good starting kit cos the SMG is like a mini-voss. krylov is of course good to start with, and support actually sucks when you have nothing. recon is worse, no zoom= pwned by baur.

but most importantly, i rank up pretty fast due to awards. i keep getting badges pretty easily. it's fun to rank up twice times in a game due to badges, my previous BG account still has quite a number of gold badges not gotten yet. mostly because of my sucky skills and laggy comp last year.

anyone had similar experiences starting a new soldier?

Yep, it's pretty cool starting from scratch. My first soldier had a K/D of 1.6 and now I have almost 1 more. :) Also, with playing a new one, I discovered the strengths of the Krylov and other weapons - Motion Mines etc.

XD

My first soldier had a .84 K/D Ratio when he hit Brig, I was able to raise it to 1.1 before I started my second. I got most of the awards, but the War College Ribbon was WAAAAAYYY out of sight...

Then I started Mr.Kaizer. His W/L Ratio is approaching 4/1, and his K/D Ratio is almost a nice 2.0 :) I was planning on just messing around with Kaizer and then going back to Fingulfin, but after I saw Kaizer's stats, I knew I would never go back.

especially nice to have 1 account with good stats, that you log on to when you know you're gonna play well, and 1 acc with BG unlocks and crappier stats for days when you're tired and just want some brainless spray-and-pray or jihad jeeping =D

The only thing I miss about my old soldier is his ranking... He was in the top 3000 Overall, and was 21 in the world with the Fried Cheeseball Launcher :( My second is working his Fried Cheeseball rank up (top 300 right now, I can go up 20-100 places per day), but I will never get my world ranking back to what it was.

My current character "lolyn" has almost 1300hours of play, K/D of 2.65 and spm of 2.39. I made a new character called "hansmoleface" and after 3 hours of play I've just unlocked rockets but not used them yet, but have spm of 3.3, K/D of 4.34, and good accuracies across all used weapons (57% voss for 30 kills ain't bad). And that's playing mostly infantry, some vehicle kills but nothing substantial.

So yeah, much better these days :)

some thing suprises me when im playing on my new soldier once in a while on a 48 manned titan server i always go defending in the air shafts and it seems i never get killed by nades or thrown rdx but on my main soldier they always throw nades and c4 lol

now this is weird.
i've been trying out tard things like jihad jeeping due to the lack of unlocks for my new soldier, and APC-whoring. just checked my stats, i have:
1.116 KDR
2.324 WLR
1.356 SPM

low spm sure, but i got a higher WLR than on my main, without even trying. and the kdr is lower than what i'm getting nowadays on my main (~1.5-1.8) but still more than 1.00

conclusion? you want good stats, play like a tard.
now i know why so many tards lurk around on 2142, the game mechanics allow for it o.O

I took your guys advice and created a new soldier, and jebus christ did my stats improve. For some reason I'm getting a much better KDR (3.1) and W/L ratio (7.67! although I haven only played about 25 games with the new guy) than my old soldier and I havent even unlocked the voss yet which is what I usually use for assault.

My current soldier D3lit3 has a sucky KDR of 1.3 (knife hunting for the top 100 & fooling around heh heh) and a SPM of 1.8.

Then I decided to create a new soldier because I was bored called x=Balla=x. So I though meh, why not join a server. I was getting scores like 30-0, 42-4, etc. because I was walker whoring. And low and behold, I log in the next day and have a KDR of 11.6! Then I deleted him because he was a knife server user :(:p...

Think I might start using my new soldier a little more - he's called "hansmoleface" if anyone fancies adding him and playing "as new" with me :)
