All I can say about this mod is WOW!

This is the first mod released by a BF2 mod team that actually can justify it's lengthy development time. It has made so many improvements on the BF2 engine that it's almost a new game! Some examples are:

When you walk, your weapon sways side to side.
When you take damage, your vision gets altered, and not in that cheesy PR mod way (like you're choking on gas in SF), after taking so much damage, you bleed out.
Commander can only use command functions (artillery, supplies, orders to attack, etc) while sitting at a radio or by being in a special command vehicle (both of which can be destroyed).
There are no flags on the "3d map", making it harder for pilots to blind bomb the flags.
Mines can only be placed when lying on the ground.
The explosions are incredible.
When a tank explodes, smoke rises from the wreckage for a short period of time, similar to ROOST.
The tank battles are potentionally AWESOME!

They left a few things in that are BF2ish, like spotting a tank makes it flash on the minimap (although spotting an enemy doesn't seem to) and there's a recon plane that supposedly has a small UAV type affect.

If you are a fan of BF1942, this is the mod for you! It's the best mod I've seen for BF2 and if you know me, you know I've tried out a LOT of mods for BF2, so download it today and play on our server!

So, in short, THIS IS THE BEST MOD I'VE EVER PLAYED!

A week ago First Strike was released and now Fh2. Both mods are awesome and Fh2 really plays like an own game. Everything feels real, compared to other mods where you only have new models for weapons.

About the spotting :D

You can spot everything, not just tanks, but only when using binocs. This is essencially being radioed to the whole team. The Spotted unit doesnt stay spotted as long as in bf2 either.

If you dont use binocs, you only yell that you see whatever, to people close by. No one far away hears you. And nothing shows on the minimap but a red question mark where you aimed.

The recon plane spots anything it flys over, but whatever it spots only blips for split second. The spotted time is extremely short, so it doesnt track anyone at all.

That's odd because without binos, it seems that tanks were the ONLY thing I could spot by looking at them. They flashed on the minimap, whereas enemy troops didn't.

Battle of Sfakia is also a great city combat map. IMO its the WWII equivalent of Strike at Karkand (or Warlord, or whatever). Except its way better.

Why bring BF2 maps up when we're talking about FH2 here...

I have to say that this is the most hilarious thing I've read this morning...."give it time"....ROFLCOPTER!!!!!!!!!

How much time? Two more years for another theater of war? LOL

Are you a complete idiot? He's making a comparison which he is free to do...unless you are the intardweb police or something. And in his comparison, he is saying that the FH2 map is better than any vBF2 or SF city map.

So how is that a bad thing?

I swear to God almighty I think you mongoloid kids are brain dead. How exactly did you become brain dead?

Yeah, why not two years? It's not that long. They're going for quality over quantity of the releases.

Easy there tiger. Most of the coding is already in place. Maps and new models will come along a lot faster now that the code is complete.

I'm probably old enough to be your grandpappy, so if you're gonna call me tiger...start paying my bills.

2 years....yes, that's what I said. This mod is damn good and it is suffering because they didn't follow the gospel. 2 years was 1 year too long....at least.

From the Valve Developer Community...(you know, those crazy kids that made a little known mod called Counter Strike)

http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Making_a_MOD

Release soon, release often

You have another power over commercial developers. You can release much, much faster and more often than they can. We've summarized this mod development philosophy with the phrase, "Release soon, Release often." Commercial developers work for 2-3 years, release their game, and hope to god people like it. You don't have to make that leap of faith. You can design your whole mod, write 25% of it and polish it to a playable state, then release it and begin getting feedback immediately. Then you can start adding the rest of your design piece by piece, at the same time rolling in the player's feedback to the first version, and continue releasing every month or two. You're in touch with your players at all times, so you'll never be in the situation where you've spent a lot of time on something you're not sure your players will like. The trick is to cut your mod up into slices. The initial version needs to be fun and playable, but doesn't need every cool feature you've thought of.

Be careful. "Release soon" doesn't mean releasing bad quality stuff, it just means doing your mod in small, polished increments. The first version of Counter-Strike didn't have half of the features they have now. The CS team released a high quality, but not big mod. Over the past year, they've been regularly adding more and more features and, in response, their player base has just continued to grow and grow.

2 years in development didn`t hurt the mod, the bloody game did.
Maybe just a little, but that`s nothing compared to what cluster**** BF2 is when it comes to everything and how it affects the mods.

Well I can speak intelligently on this matter and I do agree that DICE/EA hurt the game which in turn hurt the mods. No argument there. That, and ZERO mod support. Well, I can't say zero...how bout minimal?

But I am of the opinion, after playing FH2, that it has the potential....to reach Desert Combat quality. The timing of it all is what will serve as it's downfall. A year ago there wasn't any competition. Now you have all these new games along with new mod SDK's pulling people in every direction.

Unless you are in your 70s, you couldn't be my grandpappy. But then again calling other posters brain-dead mongoloids is quite becoming for an adult.

I was just stating what the FH2 developers said about their release schedule. Meaning that it won't be another two years before a major release. How long will it be? I don't know. I really liked DC's 45 day release schedule back in the day. I don't know how feasible that would be with the BF2 engine.

I would have loved for them to release it a year ago -- perhaps I could have kept my clan interested in a BF2 mod back then. But it wouldn't have been as good as it now.

How is your trench warfare map coming along for POE2? I liked the looks of it.:salute:

When I first flew recon plane I also wondered where the hell that photo clicking was coming from.
