After playing a few rounds of Forgotten Hope 2, I have decided to flush this mod right down the porcelain fixture!
One of my biggest issues is the sound, it's horrible. Im running SB X-FI with 5.1 surround and some of the stuff im hearing is hundreds of meters away but sounds only 15 meters away.
I also found FH2 to be very unstable had a couple of CTD';s which I have no had with BF2 in over a year.
I give it 2 thumbs down

Then you are in the minority. I've tried out just about every BF2 mod to come out and this is by far the best, least buggy mod I've ever seen. Right now more people are playing this one mod than all the other BF2 mods combined!

Obviously you never played the original or you would know that the modders are very committed to fixing issues and like ANY game - mod or commercial - there will always be issues.
It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't working on a hot fix already for some of the slight problems that have cropped up.

I seriously doubt any BF2 mod has had 1600+ players playing it after the release.
when POE2 released it had a peak of 3.3k players, highest ranking yet due to its early release with lots of new content, but plummited like a stone when the new BF2 patch came out which broke it and all the players wanted to download to check out the new UAV etc...
FH2's peak was only 2.6k players which I think we where all expecting to be much higher...

Personally, I dont find it as thrilling as Project Reality, playing wise.
But it is a well put together mod, and as Grosskopf said, its the least buggy out of any of the mods.
Your entitled to your opinion Major, but in a forum full of FH Fanboys, your going to be eaten alive like a goldfish in a shark tank.

FH2??? I love that mod. It's in my own personal top 3 list of BF2 mods. I love it's orginaliness... (?) Because it's a WWII mod and I've been waiting for something like that for quite a while. I love the weapons and just all the... stuff. If you think it's soooooooo buggy, then don't give up on it. If I were you and felt like you felt (which I don't) I would just wait until its next release and post some suggestions/feedback on the FH2 mod site that way they can deal with it.
Besides it is about having fun and if they upgrade the gameplay too much then it won't run smooth on other peoples computers so don't complain about the sound just cuz your running SB X-FI with 5.1 surround.
(Besides what does 15 meters away even sound like?)

i have only played 3 rounds my self, and i find fh2 a breath of fresh air.
the game runs silky smooth , and some of the maps are huge.
the hit detection is very good.
i did notice some sort of flickering going on in the sky on one map i played, but that would not stop me from playing it.
there is going to be a few bugs here and there, but the majority of the game is just plain great.
the heal system really ads some realism to the game and i like that.

Although FH is certainly a great mod, I did expect a bit better. I know it is just the first release and there is much more to come in future releases. In the meantime I will certainly keep it on my HD.
Personally it's replay value is very low thus far compared to its predecessor as well as Project Reality in my opinion. I know PR and FH have different goals but the overall playability and replay value is much lower in FH imo. FH is definitely my second favorite mod.

Replay value?!??!!? There's so many things to do! Fly recon, spot for artillery, fire artillery, drive tanks, man AT guns, shoot down enemy bombers, dive bomb tanks, snipe enemy infantry from 2km away, lay mines, blah blah blah...And you can do it differently every time!
If you think the replay value is low, I still suggest the same as the others: Keep it on your rig in case you get bored, another release will come soon where there will be more maps. Tons of fun to explore maps and use them to your advantage.

Tons of fun to explore maps and use them to your advantage.I can and have done all those things. It's the fun of doing them then I got tired of quickly. I am not sure why, but I got quite tired of it fairly fast. The overall feeling of the mod didn't keep me interested for very long. I played for the first 4 or so days of release but since then I haven't played. It could be just me, or maybe it's not my cup of tea compared to what I am used to; but I know I did enjoy FH1 quite a bit more and for extended periods of time.
Compared to other mods, it's replay value is actually very high now that I think about it. Maybe its the fact that I am more of a PR guy, but it does seem to have me alot more attached to it as I have not lost interested in it since the very first release. It could be just me, or maybe it's not my cup of tea compared to what I am used to; but I know I did enjoy FH1 quite a bit more and for extended periods of time. Nonetheless, fantastic mod.

I appreciate the hard work put in this mod and I really like all the historical and technical stuff they've put in. I have to admit for the low replay value compared to PR, which have a similar type of gameplay (which is even harder, due to many limitations and rules).
But somehow, I past the majority of the times in FH2 looking at the minimap, fighting a little bit, failing to find some teamwork, watching arty and guns bugging. Maybe it's why my interest is going down for that mod after less than a week...
maybe the maps are too big ? Anyway, I think they should've included at least one Berlin-type map, instead of all those endless desert land.
Most mods put accent on realism, but the variety and intensity just go down.
It's just a beginning, let's hope that FH2 will get closer to the BF42 type gameplay.
So far, AIX is the most successful, bugless mod and I think I'll never uninstall it. But when I feel like having a serious game time, I start FH2 and hope not to get spawncamped a whole round by indestructible tanks. (didn't they have any rocket launcher during WWII? that would be great...)

Join a clan and go onto their passworded server in clan vs. clan matches. Or just go to any clan server, if they're playing they'll have decent teamwork.

The maps aren't too big, they're the right size now. Don't think of it as something bad; think of it as something that discourages Banzai charges in the deserts of Libya.
Battle of Sfakia is a fantastic urban map. If you don't think that...then you didn't really expect the right things.
Most mods put accent on realism, but the variety and intensity just go down.

There are quite a few things that were meant for FH2. Look at way past updates on their website. They have a lot of things that are just waiting to be ported, there's just no need for it when no maps can take it.
So far, AIX is the most successful, bugless mod and I think I'll never uninstall it. But when I feel like having a serious game time, I start FH2 and hope not to get spawncamped a whole round by indestructible tanks. (didn't they have any rocket launcher during WWII? that would be great...)
AIX is great and I'll admit is the closest competetor to FH2 (in my opinion).
Indestructable tanks? That's when you stop using the anti tank rifles. They barely hurt most tanks. Call in air support or distract the tank while a comrade sneaks onto it and throws sticky grenades. If tanks are indestructible it's because that particular piece of armor was in real life, to the weapons at the time.
The first recoiless rifles were the Panzerfaust and the M1 Bazooka. They both appeared after the theater FH2 focuses on for now.
Don't worry, devs will probably be moving forward into 1942-1943 era, and that's the Golden Age for the tankhunters...;)

I really hope FH2 does no such thing and if anything keeps as far away from the BF42 type of gameplay. BF42 was fun no denying that, but FH2 was never meant to be a BF42 clone and never was advertised as such, if anthing it was meant to build on FH1 and incoporate and improve several features that couldn't be implemented due to the limitations of the BF42 engine (refractor 2?)
And if you're looking for "rocket launchers", you'll have to wait, those didn't exist until the later years of the war.

Yeah, I have to agree. I even shot a little .22 that sounded louder than the FH2 pistols, and of course - I was also wearing ear protection... :shakehead:
On another note, I tried to play FH2 again today and got really frusterated. I have no lag trying to play online with any other mod, but even on my offline account, playing a Single Player game of FH2, I get the worst lag... Anybody else has this problem? I think it might be of the custom shaders the devs used. It's just a wild guess, because I have no clue as to what shaders are, but I know the first time I tried to start FH2, a display came up that warned me to update my shorcuts because it needs to be ran using FH2.exe, and not BF2.exe, because of custom shaders...

Haha. Yeah I did. I wouldn't if I didn't have to, but the rules at the range are so strict that if you screw up once, you and your whole group has to leave. The rules go on and on and it's pretty insane, but in a way it's good, cuz it allows the people that are serious about shooting and following the rules enjoy their time at the range, while the others get kicked out....
It sucks cuz the guys that work there are old and cranky... :) But overall, I still enjoy it... After all, that's the closest shooting range to where I live, and it's almost an hour away... :( Sometimes it's worth it, but a ton of stuff adds to whether the experience turns out good, or just flops. Like the weather has got to be somewhat decent, make sure you don't forget your trigger lock (like I did before - lol), and hope the employees are in a good mood... ;)
