New to BF2

Hey what's up? I've never been in a BF2 clan before and I need to learn how to play the game. I figure the best way to do this was to join a clan and team up with people, as I know running around by myself I'll only get killed. If you run a certain mod let me know so I can get everything installed ASAP.

Also, How do I type in-game? So far I found that using headsets are really important but I just wanted to type starting out.
