And by that, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm really wondering if anybody does play this at all. Truth is, it's so much better than Desert Combat so why is there only two threads in this section. The screenshots and weapons/vehicles I've seen are impressive. Why does nobody even talk about it?
First things first, I've tried to get this mod to work on my computer like 6 or 7 times and I keep experiencing CTD issues when I click on anything after I log in. So, mabye the files are... well, corrupted? I wouldn't think so. I know the last thing any developer of a good looking mod would want to do is screw their customers by putting out jacked up files out on the web. I've tried every possible window from filefront to total gaming files and from http://blacksandstudio.com/ itself. Too bad I can't even try your guy's mod. :(
The latest version is v0.15 with the 0.16 patch right? Well can you just have a full client download of the v0.16 with the changes in the patch already present? And can somebody please tell me if this mod is single player and if anybody even plays it on multiplayer?
Thanks. I really would like to at least try this mod.
*If I can't even play it, there's no way I'm going to vote for it as top mod of the year in the moddb 07 awards... sorry :(

Unfortunately, it's suffered the same fate that most BF2 mods have. People don't play it because it's not ranked. There's no full patch for .16, but the patch from .15 to .16 is small. I rarely experienced CTD's while I was beta testing and never had a CTD with .15 or .16. It is fully compatably with SP.
I may have an MRS compatable server soon, so if I do, I might try a USI server again with MRS, but I'm not sure how popular it will be, even with a quasi-ranking system.

Oh well, It's really too bad. I'll give it another shot at it's next release...

I don't think you can blame a mods failure on stats. Project Reality, FH2 and Dcon don't revolve around a stats system, yet they are still played by a lot of people.
The more likely reason is there a is a better similar alternative.

Yeah. Ok. That's the reason.
I'm not allowed to talk about dcon, so I leave my comments at that.

BF2 mods problems
A) Too similar, or inferior gameplay to the vanilla counterpart. Know that one has to ditch Vanilla to play, possibly relearn, the new mod. If its not spectacularily better, its not going to be played. If its not cardinally different, its going to compete with the rest of the bunch. There was never a BF2 "Ace Combat" SP mod, for example, and that would have made some hefty downloads. From what Ive been told, BF2 is a locked vault, and its modding-bility is limited. Shame.
B) Lack or no advertising. People arent aware of the mods, because most players dont venture to forums.
So, you need to stun the player, and you need the players to know youre existing. BF2 mods have failed to do so. In their defense, a lot of new games have failed to do so. COD4 is pretty much the only game that "picked off" nowadays.

Yeah, I'm not blaming it at all. I just wish that...
1) I could somehow get it to work on my computer and at least try the mod (which is why I'll just wait until the next release.)
2) More people played online so that if I get it working, I can play some ranked servers and at least boost my rank a little.
With all the new mods, espicially now, people are leaving BF2 Vanilla to play the new stuff slowly, one at a time, until servers get empty and eventually dissappear. So I try to play ranked servers ALL the time, even on other mods, that way, I don't fall behind. (which I already have...) :shakehead
Plus I don't really care for the BF2 Vanilla stats/ranking system. I think it takes too long to get some of the ranks. Like the next rank up from where I am (which I am a master seargeant) is like 20,000 pts. The irony of it all is that it took me 20,000 pts just to get master seargeant so... I got a long ways to go. :(
The BF2142 system is pretty cool though, all the people that have played it probably knows what I'm talking about. Hopefully that's what EA will accomplish with BF3 coming out in 2008. But it'll most likely be 2008 in the winter... so, next year! :D

Awesome. I have an MRS server ready for a ranked USI experience!
