PCgames.de (http://www.pcgames.de/) has posted up a three part video that includes an interview with the creators of Battlefield Heroes, including senior producer Ben Cousins. Below you will find the video links as well as highlights from the videos. Check it out:

Video 1 (http://www.pcgames.de/aid,629100/Interview/Ego-Shooter/Exklusives_Video-Interview_mit_den_Battlefield_Heroes-Entwicklern/) | Video 2 (http://www.pcgames.de/aid,629105/Battlefield_Heroes_Video-Interview_Teil_2/) | Video 3 (http://www.pcgames.de/aid,629107/Battlefield_Heroes_Video-Interview_Teil_3/)

• You select one character and one class at the beginning of the game, then level that character up as you go.
• The game is 3rd person as opposed to 1st person perspective.
• Each class has a system of special abilities.
• The achievement system has been turned into a mission system, letting the player decide what they want to do.
• Rewards for these missions can include new weapons or character accessories like a hat.
• Experience points will be used to level up and unlock new items such as new clothes for your soldier.
• Advertisements will be seen on an online stat website as well as ingame menus
• Each soldier has 15 parts to customize ranging from gloves to hats to pants.
• You will not have to pay to compete in Battlefield Heroes.
• The game will separate new players from those with more experience to help balance the gameplay.
• Levels can get as high as 50+
• Players will get to choose from 3 classes ranging from light to heavy.
• Commando (Light) Class - A stealth type class featuring a sniper rifle as your weapon. Has the ability to cloak and lay traps.
• Soldier (Medium) Class - A well balanced attack class featuring an SMG as your weapon. Can see enemies behind walls and can throw multiple grenades.
• Gunner (Heavy) Class - Features larger machine guns for your weapon and can pick up enemy grenades and toss them back.
• Battlefield Heroes has been in development for a year now with a team of 25-30 people working on it.
• An open beta will be released this summer that will allow you to also create a character you can then transfer when the full game is released.

To learn more and to hear it from the DICE (http://www.dice.se/) guys themselves, be sure to check out the above videos!

Win
- An open beta will be released this summer that will allow you to also create a character you can then transfer when the full game is released. (Win, so betas will count for something apart from bug reporting)
- Levels can get as high as 50+ (Just as long as it takes longer than a week to get it.)
- The achievement system has been turned into a mission system, letting the player decide what they want to do. (One of the only good parts of ETQW)
- Rewards for these missions can include new weapons or character accessories like a hat. (A HAT! Now, that is awesome. )
- Advertisements will be seen on an online stat website as well as ingame menus. (Only win if not in game.)
- You will not have to pay to compete in Battlefield Heroes. (Free Games FTW!)
- The game will separate new players from those with more experience to help balance the gameplay. (Thats good, wonder what the cut off points will be like.)

Fail
Battlefield Heroes has been in development for a year now with a team of 25-30 people working on it. (What about BF2 1.5?)
Each class has a system of abilities that can be loosely compared to "spells". (Sounds like WoW, but if its like Perks in COD4, then see Win)
- The game is 3rd person as opposed to 1st person perspective. (Meh, if its like MGS, then fail.)

sounds cool, good interviews and lots of positive sides, a really negative thing is that it's a TPS and not a FPS

I do so hope that is meant entirely in American or i am going to insist on pink Lycra Y fronts.

The only thing i dont like about this kind of information is that in the past too much of it has never been true. It would be nice to have some form of assurance that this time reality and statements did co-exist in the same place.

Either way it is good to have some more information, even if some of it is a little worrying!

It is certainly a huge disappointment, I don't recall any third person shooters I have liked, even on a console where they belong.

Conspiracy Theory:
Maybe they deliberately made the game unlikely to attract the Battlefield fans, because they don't want it to compete with BF3?

So instead they are going for a different target group. I cant really imagine who, this sounds a bit like a military version of GTA III

They have done the past, they have done the present and they have done the future, there wasn't really anywhere else they could go so they are going back to the beginning with a different style.

When I first started playing multiplayer games I was a great fan of third person, now I hate it.

The 'achievements system' sounds to much like CoD4's achievement system.

Other than that it doesn't seem that bad ;). Worth a try at least :D.

Free sounds good to me.

Battlefield is a game alot of us HATE to love for many reasons but alot of us come back with our tail between our legs to get our BF fix and for this reason I sure will at the very least give it a try.

Thank you TGN for the Info.

Sure, its free so it doesnt hurt to try.

Question: what third person multiplayer shooters did you like?
I dont mind third person in games. Diablo, WOW, guildwars, Tomb Raider etc. all do it well.
But they are not shooters.
The only third person shooter I can recall trying is Brute Force for the XBox, and I tired of that very quickly.

Iron Storm (OLD Game) Did a ok job with TPS I thought,Besides I-S the only tps I have played was Guild Wars Night Fall (untill my acct was ganked) It is a style of play that takes getting used to I agree.

I am also a music lover and in order to say I love music I can not just listen to one type of music I try to give many types of music a chance befor I judge it,same goes with gaming.(for me any way)

I don't think you can call Guild Wars a shooter. Its a RPG with autotargeting, there is no need to aim, duck ,cover, bunnyjump and all the other stuff we associate with shooters.
Its more like a updated Diablo.

I am very curious about what BF Heroes will be, but I am also very doubtful that I will appeal to FPS fans.

So youre so limited, that you prefer a present time game to a futuristic game, even though the latter may be more refined?

If youre still confuzed where Im going with this, there was a huge ammount of people who predicted BF2142 to be a BF2 mod, in all aspects bar futuristic setting. They also predicted that the stats system would have an even larger impact on the gameplay. Guess what, were they right or wrong?

Considering that DICE or EA are easy to predict these days, and how the community has been treated, negative opinions are just as valid as positives. Next time, think about issuing a warning to positive praisers, as we dont know anything about the game yet.

Just because DICE people are browsing the forums, doesnt mean that you should suck up and play the "most objective person" on the ship.

Gaming industry holds no surprises for me.

All i'm saying is that they were very similar in terms of gameplay, and both had bugs. I just prefer BF2, is that a crime?

Actually, according to yourself, it is. Youre accusing people of being shallow (basically), while youre being one yourself.

I think you just find it hard to swallow that not everyone agrees with you ;)

Aww. But noone is agreeing with me. Im actually agreeing with other people. You can have your point of view, surely. But remember, it was you, who called out people for not agreeing with you in this thread, not me. Just because you masked it under a "moderators message", doesnt mean I didnt catch you ;)

Epic win.

Wow, you really are Mr. Pessimistic aren't you?

Practice what you preach.

The point is, Alex, that there are people who are not rooting for these new games, because of the past record. They see this as a chance to tell those responsible, that the attitude needs to change. They also predict being treated the same as they were since 2005, and they dont like the prospect.

If youre telling me, that its impossible to do otherwise, from the game developers point of view, check this- COD4 and ETQW have literally stunned and swept me off my feet, because as products they were of high quality, almost bugless (I never encountered a single bug in either games), and at least when it comes to ETQW, the developers have an open line of communication with the community.

CAPCOM also has something similar, for European division, at least. They have a specific subsection in their forums, where everyone can ask any question (provided it gets past moderators filtration), and the answer comes straight from the devs. CAPCOM is a fairly large company. But you will get an answer, unless its "classified".

I see exactly what you saying, and i agree that the track record of certain companies isn't great, but you seem to requesting that they just stop making games.

I encourage them to continue making games, and to venture into new territory such as Heroes.
I honestly believe people learn from their mistakes, and whilst many people including you see DICE as a huge Corporate Monster, i see the point of view of the people working behind that face. They need to make profit which means releasing games relatively frequently, so they do need to meet tight deadlines and be creative in order to hit new market niches.

Its pressure from the Gamers that force the companies to rush a job and release the games early, some companies actually fall for it long enough until the gamers revolt resulting in bitching and moaning about bugs and glitches, so when something gets a little hard the company gives up and moves on or so it seems.

Gaming Companies can still make money on their products but it doesnt mean they have to drop support completely when newer titles get released. Think about it, if they continued support providing new maps etc people would still go out and buy it.
