Can we get a Total Map Pack?

What do you think? Is there a way that Total can publish a pack of these user created maps once they are released?

I'm not asking Total to take ownership and provide support, just check them for validity and offer them up in a series of Map Packs?

To be totally honest, I don't think enough maps are complete and stable for this YET.

I browse the IW forums a fair bit, where a lot of mappers are posting their stuff, and even maps labelled as [FINAL] are still getting a lot of bug reports requiring changes by the authors. Many maps are going to go through several "final" versions. :|:

Someone over there actually published a map pack, and promptly got a lot of complaints by both map authors, and players.

This is a good idea, but IMO, the maps just aren't stable enough yet.

Yes i read the IW forums too. I would say wait about 2 - 3 months and then do it. There will be tone of good maps. We need a map pack with only good maps. Not some good and u just throw in some bad ones because u want more maps in the pack. Really wait 2 - 3 month for the mappers to really work on there maps. Then you might be able to get like a 37 map pack of great fun maps. I know some guys are trying to make some battlefield maps in cod 4. So it might be worth waiting for that.

I was looking to get the ball rolling and in no way suggesting that this is ready for primetime.

I'm hoping that there might be some kind of vetting process to make sure that the maps are 100% ready for public consumption.

I see this happening with other games at other online venues and was wondering if it could happen here.

Question: If this is happening at CharlieOscarDelta (a site I really don't care to visit), would we be replicating their efforts? Should we just let them do it?

It's not at CharlieOscar...the discussion we mentioned was at the infinityward.com forums...there are still some argumentative twits there, but nowhere near as bad as Charlie.

Anyway, there's no real "vetting" process there, either...one guy just decided to throw 20 maps or so into a map pack, some of which were raw, basic aim maps too.

Your idea to have a "TotalCOD4" map pack is a good one, just that not enough maps are of finished quality yet. Since there is now a TotalCOD4 clan, perhaps MyIS could also eventually set up a TotalCOD4 server, running the custom maps in the map pack. ;)
