Ranked Server Breach

It has been brought to our attention that there are hacked ranked servers running which allow the artificial increase of player scores. We are working with all parties involved to shut these servers down, prevent further use of the ranked servers for padding purposes and resetting those player accounts which have been found to be stat padding.

Please be vigilant when connecting to a server for unusual behaviour including extremely short round times and excessively high scores by others on the server. If you suspect the server is being used for padding purposes please disconnect and report the server IP address to EA Customer Support at http://support.ea.com (http://support.ea.com).

I was invited to an xfire stats padding group within the last week. So I joined it, took down all details/screenies of the users and the servers they were putting up to statspad and handed them to EA via their support email system listed and left the group.

Within 36hrs max this news came out. Maybe coincidence, who knows.

But it goes to show how lame people are about this sort of thing. If they want to go cheating and lying throughout their lives then they are going to end up soulless idiots and no one in their lives will have any respect for them. A mans word is his honour. When you break that, you are left with nothing.

I posted about this earlier this week... I got into a small server to get some jet practice, and noticed that the other people in there had like 65k points in the round... I left the server, but my rank kept going up in other servers. I'm not sure what was hacked, the first server or my account, but I guess I should be prepared to be knocked down by EA...

Kind of a cryptic message. When will you be able to tell us, or when will EA spill the beans? Are they finally canning the stats system (BF2142 would die without tracking unless they gave all unlocks to everyone)? I know you can't say, but I'm wondering what it is they're going to do...

Hopefully EA will give a clarification soon. Even the ranked server providers are a little baffled at this point.

They will not can the BF2/2142 stats system until BF3 is out, and even then i suspect it'll run for a while longer.

They don't really care about the stats or consumers anymore. They have already reset players with legitimate stats simply because they were near the top where the guys with hacked stats were. Even though they continue to stack serious papers on ranked server renting and people continuing to buy this game, they really don't care. They're looking at the next bottom line, the next game to hype and sell a stupid amount of copies. And once it sells a buttload of copies based on potential for greatness, they will abandon it as well. And features promised in press releases will never see the light of day, nor will balance issues and bugs get fixed. Game over, man, game over.

I don't think they would discontinue the user account system, as that is tied in with Gamespy. However, if they did decide to discontinue the ranking system (which my guess would be that they won't do it for a while now), they'll probably just give everyone all the unlocks and freeze your actual "rank" insignia and XP where it is at that moment in time.

Nothing more has been provided since this first came out, so I don't think anyone has anything to worry about. Looks like EA has dropped the whole thing.
