A remake of a COD2 map has been released by community member tEEKK. Check it out:

This is a modern version of the popular map from Call of Duty 2 Matmata. It features the exact same size in roads and bomb locations, with modifications to most buildings to give it that modern day feel. Best played with r_drawdecals "1".

Supported Gametype: Deathmatch, team deathmatch, search and destroy.

I will be running this map and alot of others on my mod server. It should be up and running by Monday(Feb. 4).

Another job well done, recognised this from one of the older CoDs, nice that its been modified to meet the game as it is now :D.

Spawn how about putting the thump rating thing up on the map threads then we can yes or no it :D.

Another job well done...

I wouldn't consider re-texturing and adding a few models a well done job. I'd say it's a nice port, but not a well done job.

Maybe, but work was put into it :D. If we had more of these maps brought over from CoD2 and modified with the modern warfare theme then there would be a lot more maps with modern warfare theme. At the moment Backlot_2 is my favourite :D.

Lol, I love the logic behind this. It's true, but amusing nonetheless. ;)

I agree about Backlot2 -- the best of the 'custom maps' we've seen so far. The author did a great job of expanding it and building in cool new places to explore. :salute:

This looks like an excellent map.

There's another oldie, Matroska, with modernized textures that's also in the works.

Of all the different forum sections, I think this one (and the Mods one) benefits most from "thumbs up/down" voting. Great way to gauge thoughts on these maps.

This map was pretty fun to explore. I haven't really "played" it yet, so I'll hold of on an opinion, but I recommend trying it out. It's nice and big.
