Today we would like to show some in game screen shots of a few M113A1 apc. The M113A1 Family of vehicles (FOV) were very common within Vietnam. There were many variations of the M113 used. Today, we would like to show you two of the many M113 FOV's you might encounter within EoD.
The M113 is a lightly armored personnel carrier that provides good mobility combined with fair firepower and protection. The M113 APC is used to transport and position combat troops and supplies.
The M113's primary weapon system is the .50 caliber machine gun. This weapon provides the vehicle with suppressive firepower and a light-vehicle-killing capability. The .50 MG is not stabilized, requires the gunner to be exposed while firing, and is not accurate when fired on the move.
M113 ACAV
Armored cavalry assault vehicle. Vietnam War-era modifications of the M113 with additional machine guns and armor shields. Used as an assault vehicle or light tank. Typically had a crew of four: the track commander, driver, two M60 machine gunners, and an M79 grenadier.

FMC manufactured an "A" kit armament sub-system for the M113 which consisted of: Hatch armor and gun shield for the commander's .50 caliber M2HB heavy machine gun. Two 7.62mm M60 light machine guns.
Two elbow pintle mounts with gun shields for mounting the M6O LMGs to the left and right of the cargo hatch. A removeable pintle mount on the rear of the M113 in which either of the M60 LMGs with shield could also be mounted.
Our Acav wears the colors to the 1st Battalion, 50th mechanized infantry. It is dedicated to the memory of all those who served within the 50th. The model was created by PeteMonster of USI. It was textured by myself, as well as, coded. Look for this apc at a firebase close to you.
Next up we would like to show our M163 Self-propelled 20mm Air Defense Artillery Gun. The M163 utilized a modified version of the US Air Force's M61 Vulcan six-barreled 20mm rotary cannon. It was installed in a turret on a modified M113A1 APC, designated as the M741. Modifications to the gun mount changed its designation to M157A1, and the vehicle's to M163A1.

While not typically used as an air defense weapon. The M163 was extremely useful as a convoy escort. This APC variant was first introduced in the mid 60's. It was accepted in 1969. The M163 APC carried approx. 2000 rds of 20mm ammunition within itself. However, due to the ability of the M163 to expend high amounts of ammunition rather quickly. (It could fire all 2000 rds in less than 40 seconds.) The M163 APC found itself more regulated to base defense where larger amounts of ammunition were readily available.
This model was also created by PeteMonster of USI. It was jointly skinned by myself and Pete. The coding was done by myself. It is a rather nice APC and should be fun for use both as a defensive weapon against infantry, as well as, aircraft.
