IGN (http://www.ign.com/) has released a new article detailing the progress being made on the anticipated MMOFPS game Huxley. Take a look:
With so little press on this MMO, you may have forgotten or missed Huxley's premise. The first-person shooter MMO takes place in the near future in a world where humans are at complete peace. Things are not to remain that way. A cloud of Nuclearites destroys the moon and the debris trickles down to the Earth's atmosphere. Eighty percent of the earth's surface is destroyed and contaminated by radiation, forcing quick mutation and evolution. A new race called the Alternatives rises and war once more envelopes the planet. "You could say the most immense war begins in the end of the current world," says Kijong "KJ" Kang, Producer at Webzen for Huxley.
Huxley has two persistent cities that allow up to 5000 players to interact at once as well as instanced quests and 100 vs. 100 battles raging on each server. That makes most shooters look tame by comparison, but it's no easy task to pull off and Webzen knows it. Kang told IGN, "We are paying careful attention…for all the possibilities that any server problems could cause an inconvenience for players trying to connect to large scale battles. We are making all efforts for a most enjoyable environment of Huxley, such as optimization of the game engine and an introduction of the newest server technology, etc."
