MP Mashtuur City Released

After the success of Sharqi Penninsula, and the success of Karkand both in the Call of Duty 4 gameplay, a new map has surfaced that brings back the Battlefield 2 memories. Mashtuur City has now been released for Call of Duty 4!

Note: Linux servers, watch the name of the files, some files are with caps.

Map size: Large
Game type: DM, TDM, SD, HQ, DOM, SAB

Installation Instructions: (On Personal Computer - Not Server)

Place all your files in the "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\usermaps\mp_mashtuurcity" directory.
If the folder does not exist, create it.

If this doesn't work, do as listed above and put the .iwd file into your mods folder (Whichever mod you use in that folder)

I do have to say it looks MUCH better than the Kark one, in regards to the actual look of the map. Because this actually looks like Mashtuur. I'll have to give this one a go

This might be a noob question, but oh well, I can never find any custom maps in the game browser. Is it a matter of I have to install the map first, or is there some other program I should use to look for maps (all seeing eye?)

Look at your Filters in the browser...be sure that "Mods" is set to either "Yes" or "All". Then refresh.

Modded/Custom Map servers will show up in the browser in the column with the Infinity Ward "atom" symbol, but will not have a check-mark beside them.

The layout can't be too bad as it wasn't really created by him rather by somebody in the business (so gameplay can't be too bad); however, he did cut off about half of the map so I'm not so sure about this.

Detail: scale looks off, objects don't seem to 'fit' the ares (BMP - lower right), the mosque is ugly (dome is made with excessive brushwork as opposed to a single patch mesh), that bridge looks low-quality, and there are patch meshes merging with brushes or other patches (creating an ugly shadow effect).

Anyone have a better link than that? I'm not waiting an hour to download it and it seems the servers running it don't have redirects set up so it's slow as hell.

Lack of creativity. Sorry but these are the words that come to my mind when I see these maps. As a long time BF2 player I expect different maps from cod4.

This is why I hope InfinityWard is doing this mapping contest to make some custom maps actually official to play on Ranked Servers. All custom maps are very different quality and it would be hard to find custom maps servers to fit everyones exact needs.
