You are considered weird in the gaming community if you game on a laptop, but how many do?

I just can't do it. I tried and it just feels uncomfortable like somethings missing. Plus I need a full size responsive keyboard.

I have a 17" monitor and a gaming pad and a gaming mouse, I couldn't do with any smaller screen.

I do, on a 19" widescreen with a full keyboard (with the number pads etc.)

I am happy with it...

I have one that my company bought me, specially requested from the Computer guys specs that would run the game. ;)

But, at home I hook it up to a 22" widescreen and I have the Fang Gamepad that I use instead of the keyboard.

What are the specs and how well does it work on the wide screen?

I know the answer is probably no, but is it as good as a standard comp playing 2142?

sounds like you need one of those laptop coolers for it.

I game on a MacBook Pro. CoD4 on about medium-high settings and BF2142 on high-max settings. Usually when I'm in my dorm, I have an external 21" that I game on. When I'm home during breaks, I game on the 15" screen which I actually prefer.

Intel 2 core 2.00GHz
2GB Ram
ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1600 128MB RAM

1024x768
Terrain - Med
Effects - Med
Geometry - High
Texture - Med
Lighting - Low (Soldiers how up better against the buildings.);)
Dynamic Shadows - Off (Used to have these on but with multiple orbies and an EMP it would drop my FPS into the teens.)
Dynamic Lighting - Off
AA - Off
Texture Filtering - High
View Distance - 100% (Do whatever you have to so that you can run this at 100%)

I usually run around 40FPS with those settings.

Are you running XP or Vista?

i do, and im really happy with it because i can always play if i have a free period in school or something... as long as no one else is using the wifi (which never happens)....
ya, the keyboard is whack, but rebinded the keys in BF2142 to conform to my hands. actually, i like it more because i absolutely have to use the arrow keys to move (not AWSD) and the keys are all really close to my hand, so everything is fast.

even though the performance isnt so good (but i do have a really good laptop, beating most of the XPS laptops out there and for less that $900. check my xfire page (hooahguy14) for my system specs. theyre very good for the price!
IMO, laptops are better for casual gaming, since you can do it everywhere!

Vista, and I have a Logitech G5 Mouse that I keep in my Computer bag and a Rocketfish Gaming Mousepad. Plus a dual fan cooler that sits under the battery to keep it cool.

It is funny we bought this house 8 years ago and it looked huge, and it shrunk as we loaded all our stuff in it.

playing this on my Hewlett-Packard Dv6775.

1.6 Core 2 Duo, 3gb RAM, nvidia 8400gs, running on vista.
it's hooked up to my 19" LCD and usb keyboard and mouse.

so with that setup i run the game at max with the exception of AA. quite a sweet machine. my jaw DROPPED when i saw what the game looked like at max. enhanced lighting is amazing. i've been playing this game since it came out on my 4-year-old gaming PC and had to keep everything at medium. i'm loving the freedom :)

by the way, everyone said vista was the devil and didn't run games? it runs mine perfectly. if people don't know how to configure and customize their machines to perfom better they have no right to whine about why it's not working.

I also use a laptop.

Dell Inspiron 9300
17" screen
1.8ghz single core
geforce 6800 go
2 gigs of ram

I have it set mostly to med or low, no aa at 1600x1200 runs fine for me.
Also gets extremely hot.

You have the same machine I do, but I don't have the GO 6800 card, how does that card work out for you? I was thinking of upgrading my card.

you can't upgrade a laptop card. can you? i was fairly certain that that wasn't possible.

on a side note that is slightly OT i just played the bioshock demo smoothly on my laptop (seeing how far i can go with the "lappie", you see). words can't express the awesomeness i feel. if you want a laptop to game on but can't shell out big bucks go with the HP.

Some really rare laptops do allow upgrades, as long as the motherboard etc allows it.

I don't think it's upgradeable like Code_x said, I looked at it once to clean the dust off, saw the "DO NOT REMOVE THIS STICKER" sticker, got scared and sealed it back up. Would be an interesting call to dell though.

As for how well it works, I get by just fine with my settings. Would like to see everything on High, but in order to do that I have to change the resolution to 800x600 to get good FPS with that processor.

What card did you get, I'm sure you could run everything mid on 1024 graphic setting?
