View Full Version : Considering Crysis...

Well I play mostly bf2 and games from the Half-Life series as well as other Valve games when it comes to the PC. So I downloaded the demo for Crysis and played through it a while back and wasn't all that impressed. I believe I need to update graphics cards because the in-game action was not even close to some of the pretty pictures and screenshots I've seen floating around on the web and these forums.
You might be wondering what I'm trying to say but I figured asking this question from people who played Crysis would be the best source. I'm wondering if Crysis is a game worth buying. Judging from the demo, well... I wouldn't judge from the demo because I didn't care for it so much but you guys can tell me more about it and if I should eventually pick it up?
As far as the story goes, is it really good and intrigueing? Does it make the hair on your skin stand up? How is the gameplay? Singleplayer seems like fun but how long is it? And how does it compare to the Online multiplayer? These are just things I like to consider before going out to buy a game. Also it looks like there are lots of mods in progress for Crysis so it wouldn't be a total loss if I happened to dislike the game, which isn't that likely, but any reccomendations would help me decide if I should get it.
Thx! :D

lol, well I think it looks like a great game so I'll do my best to ignore the hate comments. (Don't you hate when haters hate?)
____________
Also, a good way to measure your appreciation for this game would be how you rate it... What would everybody rate it out of 5 stars?
oh and btw, hate them haters back... ;)

What are your system specs?

A good system will make all the difference with Crysis. It should be mentioned however, that there is no single card solution on the market that can max this game out so don't get your hopes up. I felt it had a good story, but it is only one of a three game trilogy so it obviously didn't feel finished.

I loved it too, infact I think most people like the singleplayer part. Multiplayer was so-so, but I love instant action (deathmatch) :D

the graphics i feel live up to the hype.. it looks incredible! IF u have a pc worthy of decent settings... the game itself is alot of fun and thanks to the nano suite it can be played in a few different ways which also adds a new dimension to the game.. however..the multiplayer imo SUCKS!!!!! its just not that much fun.. there arnt many populated servers and the ones that are populated are normally occupied by mindless hackers.. its worth getting if u have a GREAT gaming pc and u find it for a decent price.. for me personaly this game is like a prologue of things to come :)

Yeah, mods are great when the game itself gets boring. But if it's a really great game like Half-Life 2 then I never really get bored of it... :D

It really is such a great game, I just don't believe you have a good experience with it if you don't have a NASA computer. I still recommend it though, but only if it is playable on your computer. Do some research there first.

Its worth it for the singleplayer. Im a huge HL2 fan (fav singleplayer off all time) and this is right up there. Dont worry too much about system requirments. Even on low the game looks pretty nice.

So I've heard... lol! It looks pretty off the chain. So far, there haven't been any major complaints besides that multiplayer isn't so special but I rarely play HL2 DM and HL2 is like one of my favorite game because of the story, characters, uniqueness, oh - I can go on all day... :D Totally agree with you Bacon!
Well I'll look into Crysis some more. Thanks for posting but I'm not deserting this thread yet... ;)
Oh, and btw, Bacon: I lol'd at your sig. I remember reading a magazine that talked about Spore no longer than 2 years ago and when I finished reading the article, I was like WTF?!? I guess it's sort of cool... I guess.

this just proves my point.. when a games multiplayer gets soo boring that u resort to mods for entertainment theres somthing wrong..

This game has to be the best MP and SP game I've played... sure its not fully "RUN AND GUN" like BF2...it has more direction and is smooth when your attempting to complete tasks. People that say its not a great MP game are only those that must feel the speed in which BF was built around...you need to slow down to enjoy the wonders of this game. After all they did just give it the #1 PC game of 2007 from many PC Gaming mags! :salute:
Great Game, I loved it until the Aliens showed up the game became more like going down a tunnel-there is only one way to go , then the been there done it before follow a set route and kill a big boss. It is pretty looking if you have the hardware though.
The jungle and the more open way of playing against the Koreans and taking objectives different ways were great!

i dont know what server u have been playing on but everyone i play on its "run and gun" aswell as dodging hackers freezer beams and crap..
you need to slow down to enjoy the wonders of this game.
thats a good way to end up REAL dead REAL quick :p
it has potential to be a great multiplayer but it has a few small yet devastating bugs/glitches/hacks that weigh it down.. people who say this is the "best" multiplayer game are kidding themselves.. best single player maybe.. but it's multiplayer is getting pwnd by games 3 years its senior ;)
