Our own member Scouty (http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/main/member.php?u=90300), and the WOoKie clan (http://wookie-clan.co.uk/) have released the latest version of their mod, WOoKie Sniper mod. (http://wookie-clan.co.uk/) Here is what they had to say:

Hi guys, I have been working on some minor fixes for the past few days.

But the biggest fix was the kit requesting system. I found it tiresome after a few hours of playing, so I made a custom spawn screen for the mod. Screenshot follows.

The new spawn screen with 100% customizable kits

You can customize your kit however you want, there's 3240 combinations waiting for you.

Some gameplay changes

- commander is disabled again: too much cartillery, crate spam, and unfair commander view
- added binoculars with variable zoom for looking around
- added ammo packs: they don't regenerate, so effectively give double ammunition at spawn
- fixed M24 / M82A1 scopes (thanks to kysterama)
- new DSR1, TPG1 and XM109 sounds
- fixed the draw distance on jeeps, boats, ziplines, hooks, and other objects
- a python fix so the custom spawn screen works when creating a local server

Yup, I had this idea for a custom spawn screen only a few days after the initial release. I thought it was something you guys would want to see released as soon as possible. :)

are servers required to update as well or dont the servers need any updates? just that if so, updated servers should make it clear they are running the newest version so players know which one to join :)

woah thats awesome. customizable kits! id play it but right now im just swamped with stress about college stuff -_-. *stress stress stress*

Yeah it's a total new version so servers need to update too. I've put [V1.15] in front of the official server, and added a message in the loading screen to warn people.

And if any server admins are reading this: there's 1 server setting that needs to be enforced: Start Delay needs to be set to 0. This is to ensure that everyone gets the right kit if people spawn exactly at the same time the round starts (first spawns mostly).

I'll enforce this in future versions of the mod, but the issue slipped past the quick testing unfortunately.

Yup it's definately not a mod for everyone, but the item system is pretty straightforward and could be used in other mods without much effort (it's simpler than it looks really).

AP = Armor Piercing, does more damage to vehicles but less to soldiers.
HP = Hollow Point, does more damage to soldiers but less to vehicles.

AP is twice as accurate as HP for game balance.

If you don't mind, can you post the stats of the guns? The 3 bolt action rifles all seem the same to me and probably to a lot of new people.

All sniper rifles do 100% damage at 0m, 67% damage at 2km, and 50% damage at 3km.

MOA = Minute Of Angle, less is better since it means less deviation.
DAM = Damage to soldiers, damage to vehicles depends on ammunition type. This is for bodyshots. Headshots are always fatal, limb shots give reduced damage.

AP = Armor Piercing (more damage to vehicles, penetrates some materials)
HP = Hollow Point (more damage to soldiers, does not penetrate at all)

*** Long Range:

DSR1 AP - 0.30 MOA - 80 DAM
DSR1 HP - 0.60 MOA - 120 DAM

M24 AP - 0.50 MOA - 85 DAM
M24 HP - 1.00 MOA - 127.5 DAM

L96A1 AP - 0.70 MOA - 90 DAM
L96A1 HP - 1.40 MOA - 135 DAM

TPG1 AP - 0.90 MOA - 95 DAM
TPG1 HP - 1.80 MOA - 142.5 DAM

*** Semi-Auto:

TYPE88 AP - 1.10 MOA - 70 DAM
TYPE88 HP - 2.20 MOA - 105 DAM

SVD AP - 1.30 MOA - 75 DAM

Haha, glad you shot that bastard of a WOoKie! But yeah, notice that big tree in front of you?

The range finder is built into the BF2 engine and 'sticks' to big static objects in the way. The only thing I'm doing is displaying a HUD variable containing that pre-calculated value. So there's no way I can fix this issue. That's why I still use attack markers extensively as SL, since it gives accurate range up to ~1km (when it fades out, seems hard-coded). All rangefinders in all mods have the same issue, it's just BF2 being buggy I'm afraid. :p

This is the most Epic mod ever, i totally love it, only problem is that it lags. But when i get a better graphicscard i gonna play this a lot :)

Removing the fog punishes old cards. But, the game is almost 3 years old, and i believe only the 5th percentile of gamers would struggle to run this mod :)

Hey my PC is 3 years old right now, a geforce 6800 (hardly state of the art eh). Works fine. :D

Intel X3500 doesn't really like BF2 at all. Plus i can't even play portal or gmod :(

Uhm, a C# console app I made for the job. It has no interface whatsoever, so you have to edit the source code and run it with Visual Studio to get anything done. I'm sending it over xfire (scoutstrike) for anyone interested. ;)

Nah, it's only a thing to get you started. You need a bit of programming experience to get the custom kits working for your mod. It's not exactly a plug and play solution. ;)

ok so i was just wondering, (im new to the modding thing) but do you have to have the battlefield2 expanshon pack to have the grappling and the other things?

nope.

all you need is the most upto date version of BF2 (v1.41) and the mod, then when you install the mod it installs it along side your BF2 and then you get another shortcut on your desktop for the mod. the normal BF2 shortcut will still run BF2 and the new shortcut will run the mod. hope that helps.

I remember doing both a 1339 and a 1335m shot on this mod...in one round...both headshots (I think). If you average those two numbers, well, you get the idea.

Since then I've moved on to PR. Might come back sometime.
