A new dev blog has been posted today over at the Battlefield Heroes (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/) website. This blog clarifies a little confusion that stems from an article earlier this week. Take a look:

Hello Heroes! Gamasutra published an interview with me this week in which I state we will have two maps available for the launch of Battlefield Heroes. This news has passed around the net a fair bit overnight, which is odd as James and I mentioned this in our very first interview in Games For Windows Magazine in January. Some people out there on the forums have jumped to some conclusions following this interview, so…

…let’s just clear up a couple of things. Firstly, we have no plans for selling maps for Battlefield Heroes. Our game design and our business model is designed around the fact that 95% of the people playing the game never pay a penny. We want this to be the best free game experience online and we will be delighted for 95% of you to play the game for hundreds of hours, fully level up your character and enjoy a long expansive experience without spending any money at all, ever.

Secondly - we are launching with two maps, but we already have one other in development - we are playtesting it as we speak and it’s great. Should be ready in the months, if not weeks, directly after launch. We have a full-time level designer assigned in the game’s post-launch team to keep making new maps (if you want more that is, we can make vehicles or game modes if you want instead) and we will be polling the community to find out what type of content you want to play.

So, to re-iterate. We are launching with two maps, we have no plans to sell maps, and more maps will be available for free soon after launch.

Amazing. They basically have only ONE (1) man assigned for the new content work, even though they release the game with just one map.

No wonder its free. Probably have some poor college kid doing practice for pennies. 1 map every 3 months.

A bit lame to only have 2 maps at launch. If the game seems as fun as the trailer suggests, I'm happy anyway though :D

At least they'll keep making new material - a step forward :)
