Aussie's Get Censored Version of GTA IV

Rockstar Games (http://www.rockstargames.com) has today confirmed that the version of Grand Theft Auto IV (http://www.rockstargames.com/iv/) which will go on sale in Australia will not be the same version which gamers in other countries will be unwrapping later in the day. Speaking to The Age, a Rockstar Games representative did confirm that a "special verison" of the game was submitted for rating by the Office of Film and Literature Classification, who subsequently awarded an MA 15+ rating.

Quite what content will be missing from the game was not disclosed, but earlier this week a BBFC report indicated the game contains intense sexual content.

Our censorship is so incosistant, we can have cover art of babies undergoing an autopsy by Canibal Corps, but a game gets censored cos there is too much sexual content. WTF?

well scince im from nz i was gonna ask my brother to get it there (NZ games can go up to R18) because he is there now for a few days, but i found out it doesnt come out till the 30th :(

why don't they just stick those little 18+ stickers on the box? porno's get away with it why can't games? makes no logical sense.. game shops just shouldn't sell 18+ games to kids.. just like bar tenders don't sell alchole to kids... and tobacconists don't sell cigarettes to kid's and so on...

i think its stupid that people are deciding on what content buyers will see. fans of GTA fully know well what to expect when they buy the games so i just don't get it.
and i wouldn't really compare it to porn for the simple fact that 1, parents dont buy porn for their kids, whereas they do with games, and 2,no one pays for porn;),

whats the difference between selling a graphically gory movie and a graphically gory and or sexually orientated game?...NONE

it's not soo much that i really care about the fact its going to be edited because i will get the full version of the game anyway.. my problem is the missing logic in the censorship laws here.. its just stupid..:shakehead:

It's not like the stuff in the game will be things people our age haven't seen (or even done, for that matter lol) before
