Kaos Studios (www.kaosstudios.com) and THQ (www.thq.com) have just released the dedicated server files for Frontlines: Fuel of War.

We are pleased to announce that we have completed our testing and we are releasing the first version of our dedicated server files today:

This is a stand-alone dedicated server application for Frontlines: Fuel of War 1.0.2 and will run on Windows XP, Vista, and 2003 Server.

The application will let you host Frontlines servers. The full game, CD key, disc, and registration are not required.

Downloading them now, if everything works ok should have a couple of servers up in an hour or so....

Cool. Maybe if the CoD4 server I have goes okay, I'll get a FFOW server.

I heard it's one server per box! Is that true?

There are instructions for running multiple instances in the dedicated server guide but I am still trying to figure that part out...

Hmm.. because The Heart Smasher over at Wolf Servers has been working on this for the last 7+ hours and he's saying it's one FFOW per box and it's on the primary IP!

not sure about the ip issues but...

do a find for "Multiple Instances"

Multiple Instances

These commands and settings will allow running multiple server instances on one machine:

CustomHomeDir=C:\MyAbsoluteCustomDir\ "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended CustomHomeDir=C:\MyAbsoluteCustomDir\" "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended CustomHomeDir=..\MyRelativeCustomDir\" Overides \My Documents\My Games\ behavior to a custom directory path CustomHomeDir will be checked first when reading DefaultGame.ini files and most all other files in the game CustomHomeDir will be where most all files are saved such as GCGame.ini, Launch.Log

CustomPublicIP=127.0.0.1 "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended CustomPublicIP=127.0.0.1" When players join your online game this IP will be used instead of the automatically determined IP address. Use when players have problems connecting to your server

MultiHome=127.0.0.1 "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended MultiHome=127.0.0.1" Sockets bind to this IP address to allow for multiple game severs on a single box

QueryPort=5478 "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended QueryPort=5478" Game query port customization External tools can query a running game server via 8 byte UDP packet sent to this port "˙˙˙˙FLSQ" DefaultEngine.ini [Engine.QueryProtocol] QueryPort=5478 ListenBindIP=0.0.0.0

Port=5476 "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended Port=5476" N/A Slated to future game revision, clients will attempt to join on the default 5476 game port until a future client patch is released A LAN game started with a custom port can be joined like so: "FFOW.exe 127.0.0.1:5476" Game port customization DefaultEngine.ini [URL] Port=5476

MatchmakingPort=9103 "FFOW.exe Server fl-village -online -unattended MatchmakingPort=9103" N/A Slated to future game revision In game lobby uses this port to ping the game server DefaultEngine.ini [GCGameLobby.GCGameLobbyPC] MatchmakingPort=9103

From what I've been told, that doesn't work. Kaos is talking about having to release a hotfix for it to work.

On a lighter note, there's a stunning *83* people playing FFOW right now (Early morning eastern US - early evening in Asia). Compare that to the nearly 20,000 playing COD 4. :)

 I said the hell with it..I downloaded the files looked at exactly what yall are talking about for server setup and deleted it... I mean just as you put it about player count regardless of the right or wrong port its very low and to behonest not worth the effort even after giving them time to patch the game a few times and release server files.

They are even bundling this game with POV graphic cards to get them out of stock....so you get a POS with a POV ain't that sweet.

I'll still keep my ears open for updates though and stay up on the news! :)

I worked on it until 4:30AM this morning trying to find a way to get it to bind to an IP address and just like everyone else...no luck here either.

On a side note, your buddy at Wolf must be expecting a run on server rentals for this game because he has a ton of empty server needlessly cluttering up the game browser...

They have the servers available, so they set them up for now. I know how we could double the number of players - Just get everyone playing MOH:A and make them play FFOW! Then we'd probably have at least 200 people playing FFOW! ;)
