1776! That'd be so damn slow paced! Shoot, clean barrel, reload, shoot, repeat. The earliest I want them to go back to is WWI. I hope they go back and re-make 1942 and Vietnam. It would be nice to have a Battlefield Korea, as well.

If it's a war without semi automatic weapons, I don't want to take part in it!

I would like to see a 1776 with the Colonies, British, and French. Instead of aircraft carriers ships, and instead of tanks, cannons, etc But I hope they dont keep going into the future because after 2142 futuristic will just turn into plain Si fi

I really hope they stick go back to the real conflicts mixed with Arcade/realistic gameplay. 1942, Vietnam, and bf2 were all very good. Im sure 2142 will be to, but anything after 2142 thats is in the future will get old

Today, digital illusion's (DICE) announced a new title, Battlefield: Bad Company for Xbox360 and PlayStation 3. Battlefield: Bad Company is planned to be released during 2007 and is one of the previous announced titles that wasn't named.

Battlefield: Bad Company is an entirely new and independent game in the Battlefield-series that uses a game engine called” Frostbite”. That's DICE's entirely newly developed gaming engine. The game contains a cinematic single-player-part loaded with adventurous feeling and dark humor as never earlier been experienced in Battlefield-series.

i agree 2142 is great the way they made it but if they go into the future more with like space fights and what not i personaly wont buy the game.

I personally do like sci-fi and would buy a even more futuristic game if they made it, however by starting in 1942 the gamers they've picked up as fans tend to dislike sci-fi, I think moving any further into the future would be a bad move for BF series, I guess my best bet would be if they stayed around what they're doing now, modern ish.

I personally have played one too many WWII games and anything from that era or backwards bores me now. Just my 2 pence.

They can only move in so many directions. Space battles for a BF series game wouldnt feel right. Hell, alot of people dont think the year 2142 feels right. In any case, I dont think DICE is worrying about originality. We could see from now on, just modern first person shooters, with different armies, weapons, vehicles, maps and story lines. I'm sure in the future DICE will remake 1942, because of how well it selled.

You mean like Joint Operations? It'd be kind of difficult because BF games take up alot more hardware wise.

It'd be interesting if they made a BF 1918.

-The planes would all be those lame, turn-of-the-century things, so they'd be almost exclusively used for recon and air fights. They could be used for anti infantry, but that'd be almost useless.
-The guns would be VERY interesting.
-Since the planes can't go as high, DICE could take the outrageous hights off of all the maps and cap it at maybe 2000 meters. So much space is wased on air-space in BF2 that it's crazy.
-More players could be added into the maps, or you could have more detail like trenches, barbed wire, and the likes.
-The commander screen would be awsome. You could have a normal map, and then you would need your people to spot out where all the enemy units are for artillery.
-Spotting out enemies would only work for people in your direct radius. With no real effective means of radio, you'd need to work together really well.
-Large scale gas attacks. Mustard gas isn't fun.

I wish they would wait until DirectX10 comes out, and all the new graphics cards that utilize it and make a realistic Vietnam game with really dense foliage everywhere and more destructible environments...always wanted a game like this but i think it's still pretty far off. the vegetation in Crysis looks great though.

Battlefield motto: large scale battles...just licenced unreal 3 engine...

Personally I'd love to see a game like that, BC Huxley is turning out to be one of the unreal-style human-bullethole games, 2 full minigun magazines MIGHT kill you... I'm not a great fan of those games.
Doing that concept in BF style though...

Then it would take more skill instead of spraying. There would be more open spaces and forest in the BF1776: The Battle for Independence.
An expansion pack would include the French as they helped the U.S. defeat the British.

First of all, they had radio at this time. It was first used during the 1905 war between Russia and Japan. Armies were using radio was not uncommon during this time.

Second of all, the planes were not lame. The planes were proudced in huge numbers and the British used them alot. Also the germans used Zeppelins to bomb england during this war too.

HAHAHA thats how it would go Anyways I think A lot of people would go for a WWI game. The setting is perfect, trench maps, Mustard Gas, early model machine Guns, Brits/Germans/Americans for teams. It all falls into place and is something we dont see to much. I think if EA did that it would be a huge Success.

Also, eventhough they already did it, if they were to make another Vietnam game that would also be amazing as everyone loves to listen to the music and fly over the tree lines in a Huey.

Well, EA bought DICE finally and I pulled this about DICE from an article saying that DICE would be a "fully integrated EA studio dedicated to growing the Battlefield franchise and developing new products for the PC, next generation consoles, and other new platforms."

By "growing the Battlefield franchise" I assume they plan to continue with more games.
