You unlock it on recon ithink and you activate it and you will be almost completely invisible yet if you look closley you can see the enemy...

Hopefully it doesn't last forever. Somewhere around 2 minutes, then 5 minutes to charge would be perfect. Cause I can already see the complaining from me, and other people.

Kit: Recon
3rd unlock in the right hand tree.
You have to have it in your hand to use (like a weapon.) You can use it for 20 seconds max, then it takes 10 seconds to recharge. Up close, you can hear a high pitched whine. Your vision is also slightly distorted while using it.

It DOES NOT last forever, it lasts about 10 seconds and takes a while to recharge. You cannot shoot or do anything but move around with it enabled. When it's enabled, your shadow still shows, your footsteps can be heard, and it makes a buzzing noise.

i dont see much pratical use of this if it only last 20 sec and you can still hear or see the guy

You can also see the shadow of the cloaked person too. Its not entirely practical to use it to sneak up on a lone infantryman with his wits about him, however a tank or someone in the middle of a firefight will not notice at all.

Just how many hours did you log in beta, dude? ;)
The primary use of active camo is to sneak up on armor and move between cover at a distance unnoticed. The ability to spot a player's outline combined with the whine at short range is an intentional balance that prevents you from abusing it to get easy kills on unsuspecting players.
Think about it. If you had the ability to go competely invisible for as long as you wanted, why would you use any other class?

Yeah... i was agreeing with you, maybe you mis-read what i was saying. I don't want people to completely invisible and am going to play Support who can spot them :p
I only played Recon for a short period on the Beta and in retail am going to only do the sniper side of Recon.
All in all, about 40 hours i played the beta for i think. In 8 days lol.

I would use it with my sniper to retreat or hide for a moment.

wait for a firefight where that whine is covered up and get ready to take some dogtags.

From what I hear its not so good for getting dogtags eather, since you have to wait that 1 second to decloak, then wait for weapon swich times, thats a good amount of time for sombody to notice you and kill you first, and since your in knife range I think even in a fire fight you would be able to hear the noise it makes up close.
