Nah there isnt. Everthing in 2142 is balanced very well.

the simple fact that bf2 had a grenade launcher wasnt what got it the "noob tube" nick. it was the fact that noobs used it exclusivly when they had a perfectly good rifle aswell, it was thier loss though. the other reason it was called a noob tube was firing at your feet. other than that, anyone talking **** about the grenade launcher was infact the noob themselves. so if you are a llama, then yes 2142 has a noob tube. however, if you arent a total smacktard then no, 2142 doesnt have a noob tube but rather an assault tool capable of defeating static enemy from level or high ground.

If by "noob tube," you mean an easy to use one-no-skill-shot-to-kill weapon, then the answer is no. Before playing, I thought the Koenig H-AVR Engineer unlock was going to be this weapon, but Dice has done a good job of making sure it doesn't work that well against infantry.

If you're referring to the actual Assault Unlocks, there too, Dice solved the problem nicely. In BF2, you had one weapon for all ranges in the GL. It was never meant to be used at PB range, but hey, that's hindsight. In 2142, you have the shotgun attachment for short range, and it's no good for anything else, and the Rifle Rockets for Med-Long range. You can use them at short range, but even if you hit the target dead on, it doesn't explode and only does about ~30pts of damage. If you miss them, even if it lands right at their feet, it does nothing.

:/ The point of a grenade launcher, similarly to a grenade is for killing multiple enemies in one shot, when it is used on a 1 kill basis, it is a bit silly, and KIND of skill less, however, when used to combat a large group of finely compact infantry, a grenade launcher is amazing, and managing to kill a large amount of enemies in one blow on ANY battlefield is an undeniably good thing. Grenade launchers are only "No0b Tubes" in the hands of no0bs, in the hands of a tactic abiding player, it is a lethal weapon, and shouldnt be criticised so greatly.
