Best buy has the exclusive weapon if you pre order there

Pre-order Battlefield 2142 from GameStop.com or EBgames.com and receive:
-An instant promotion the first time you log on to Battlefield 2142! You'll be able to choose from 9 unlocks including the Herzog AR Shotgun attachment, the RDX demopak, and the FRG-1 Grenade. While everyone else is working their way from Recruit to Private, you’ll be there immediately. Also, if you participate in the BF2 Veterans program, your promotions stack, so you’ll reach Private 1st Class the moment you log in and have even more unlocks to choose from.
- Exclusive screenshots
- Exclusive wallpapers
- Exclusive trailers
- $10 off Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard by mail
- $15 off Logitech G7 Cordless Laser Mouse by mail
- $10 off Logitech G5 Laser Mouse by mail

No, it's $49.99 as it is most other places. I think the cheapest I've seen is at Newegg for $46.99 plus $5 shipping.

I think I am going for the compusa deal because you get a free BF2142 shirt there.

I'd preorder it through EAD. Not only because of a 24 hour before-everyone-else demo access, but because you won't have to insert the cd everytime you want to play and you won't have to worry about lost or broken cds. I don't see why everyone is paranoid about purchasing games online... it's not as if you can only download it once and besides, you can always back it up on your own DVDs.

well, I am not sure if you can get the same deal in store or not, but go check out their website.

true, but if you just use an image on a virtual drive, you overcome this problem. I never use the CD/DVD's after installing them. Just use an image and keep the media in a safe place. It's not "illegal" or anything and you still have the hard memorabilia!

Meh, I guess you're right. I just like the convenience of it. Fast DL speeds and safe place for your CD key.

yes, there are advantages to all sides. I am still on the fence, but leaning towards compusa just because I like the idea of getting a shirt rather than any of the unlocks etc.

I looked on their site and it won't allow for an instore pick up of the pre-order...I don't like waiting so I'm gonna see if other places have an instore preorder.

As for the EAD, I like having the box/discs on hand....call me old school ;) .

yea, I'm not sure about in store. But I don't mind waiting one more day. I mean it just means playing the demo one more day.

Then again, I'v preordered stuff before and even though the ship date is the same as the release date, they sometimes ship the day before and you end up getting it on the release date.

It was 39.99 last week. I guess it was a special deal. I saw a whole thread on it on another site, and I checked myself and it was 39.99 at that time. Probably a special just for that week. Bummer its not still there.

Regardless I have it already pre-ordered and its already in my EA Downloader waiting that 5 1/2 days til I can download it. Midnight GMT on the 17th FTW!

do I still get the demo 24hrs early and the soundtrak and all that if I preorder from from GameStop.com or EBgames? or do I need to pre-order from ea for that.

You only get it early if you order directly from the EA Downloader, or if you win one of these contests where you get your key immediatly.
