I found this on www.bf2142.com's mainpage (http://www.bf2142.com).
We are aware that some players are experiencing disconnects while playing the Demo. Please know we are running checks and making enhancements to our support systems so that these disconnects can be solved as quickly as possible.

I'm sure it wont be solved in the demo unless they release an "updated demo" since most likely it will require them to tweak something on both the server, and client side of the netcode. They could patch the demo I'm sure, but I cant think (it may have been done, but I dont believe I've seen it) of any games that have released a demo patch for MP.
My hope is that they figure it out before release so we can do a quick patch after install, or the final "release" version contains the fix already.
I dont mind patching the game the moment I install it honestly as long as it fixes the issue when I play.

they told that the demo client isnt the problem...the problem is with their master server because they didnt planed have so much people playing the demo...they are adding more servers for solving this.
Anyone know how many people are playing the demo?

All those that play BF2 + and then some? lol.

I don't believe them at all.
Pffft, they didn't expect to have this many playing the demo?? WTF is that crap?
They knew how many would be playing this demo no doubt.
When the demo very first came out to pre-orders they were getting discoD right off the get go and there weren't that many even playing it.
Besides, while playing the beta we were getting disocD and CTD the whole time, this is not a new thing.
They saw all these reports of discos happening and since thier trying to sell the game with this demo they had to make a comment like that.
"Everything will be fine be release day"....LMAO at that thought.
"Oh, they'll patch it righ away and fix it"....HA HA HA!! That has NEVER happen with them and if you are hoping for a patch to fix issues in this demo have fun waiting 3-6 months for it.
W3AK EA, really come on, we are not ALL that gullible!
Flame and hat3 on me all you want, this is THE TRUTH!

Thats not the case. When you connect to another server you're running on their hardware. The only thing the "master" server is used for is account authentication, and for the matchmaker.
Once you're in someones server, then that server checks back with them and verifies your account is active (doesn't do it in the demo I'd assume since once you login you're logged in and it doesn't need to do a cdkey check) and then you're going on that server.
How would their "master server" cause the disconnects? I could see if it was having trouble with authentication or something due to the amount of people playing, but that still doesn't make sense cause you're not getting authentication errors you're getting randomly dropped from the game.
This is either a client, or server issue. This whole "they didn't expect" thing is b.s in my opinion. I was getting dropped occasionally from the get go. When it was just a handful (few thousand or less) of people with the demo. They know that the game is going to get a huge amount of people playing just from general pre-order and net information.
Please show me where EA specifically says its their master server, cause I'm callin' b.s. on that one. Its a client or server side issue, or both. Not the master server. Its just a flaw in the netcode somewhere.

Well when you get dissconecte the error message says
You have lost connection to EA master server
If it was there servers it would sayYou have lost connection to the server
Like it does in BF2

Hi guys,
The issue was related to the account activity checks that the master servers send to players while they are logged in. These checks exist so the server can know when your account has lost connection so that it may de-activate the account so you can log in again. The thought is that a player will not send responses to a query if their connection goes out so we need to close the account so you can log back in.
Anyways because so many people jumped into the demo the EA.com account servers were not able to cope with the stress. Now that the EA techs have added more servers and made a account server patch upgrade the issues should be eliminated. Please let us know if you continue to experience any additional problems.

Told you it was server side too. Sure it was their account server, but still server side...lol :)
Glad it was something they were able to fix w/o a client patch.

Another thing to check. A lot of people, who play primarily off peak times and have had less disconnects, have mentioned that they had to disable ALL FIREWALLS to get it to work right.
You may want to try that too. Make sure that you're not getting booted for more than 1 issue.

I'm a HUGE BF fan boy and was really looking forward to this game.
I'm very disapointed they can't get thier act together on this one.:(

anyone know how to fix the "lost your connection to the server" thing...?? i would apreciate ur help...was lookin forward to this game and right now is 2 out of 10....only the demo but w/e...help ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The only way I seem to be able to get a decent game is to turn off router firewall,
only 1 disconnect so far, compared to within 5 minutes everytime with it on.
Opening the ports makes no difference, altho I took a few shortcuts eg:
instead of opening:
UDP 27900
UDP 27901
UDP/TCP 27900
I opened UDP/TCP 27900-27901 which I presume does all 3, am I wrong?

I was playing with an average ping of 20 and it lost my connection. Its a sign of other major problems with retail version.

The lag will hopefully die out soon, I know for a fact that I, and a lot of other people, are getting bored of the demo. Now it's buying the game or bust!

As long as it does not happen in the full game, I can live with it in the demo.
