Take a look in the first server and you will see a bf2 server on bf2142 server list

It's just the way they coded it, do you call a whole new set of vehicles, 10 times better graphics and physics, 40 new unlocks, new ranking system where awards help you rank up, new game mode, over hauled classes, and tons more I cant thing of a mod?

Well, BF2142 IS a new game but they used the same BF2 engine. Why do you think they are releasing is so fast? Feels like mod, but it's not.

Saying so demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of game development, and the fact that many games you play, are using engines that were designed for games released months to years prior. The difference being they've taken said engine, and made modifications to it to suit their game needs. Just recently EA Licensed the Unreal 3 Engine, does that make all the products developed with this engine a Mod...

SF had new equipment, new maps, new vehicles, new weapons, new unlocks, new ranks.

It introduced new BADGES/RIBBONS, not ranks ;)

The only visible difference between SF and BF2 without entering a map was the intro movies.

SF maps used the same buildings and structures as BF2 maps. SF also had the same physics etc... I could go on.

See why 2142 is not a mod?

SF had slightly different guns, slightly different vehicles, like.. 4 new unlocks and absolutely no new ranks.

2142 has brand new interface. Brand new classes and guns, brand new vehicles, a bloody sh*tload of unlocks and like 40 new ranks. Plus new maps.

Very well said FC. Many (if not all) of the companies out there use engines more than once. However, they alter a few settings. Complaining about 2142 using the same engine as BF2 is an ignorant thing to do, since this game is probably not going to be the first game you play that runs on a "recycled" engine.

For those console players that love sport games. Ever seen Madden, NBA Live, Fifa, NHL?? Strikingly similar games, with a few minor gameplay, interface and roster changes. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

For some reason, the 2142 demo reminds me slightly of Quake 4 with the weapons and sparks flying and stuff. Maybe it's just me. It's definitely fun, but I think I expected a little more from it. Then again, kinda funky when you don't even get something as simple as grenades. Knifing people didn't seem to work all that great at times. I think when I was on top of somebody it always took 2 swipes point blank. Most of the time I got shot anyway. Looks pretty good, but needs 1280x1024. Can't wait to get all the goodies and stuff in the real thing :)

BF2142 has such awesome weapons as "rifle", "pistol", "knife", and "grenade launcher", only it's reskinned to look futuristic. It's vehicles include jeeps, and tanks, and "hovercrafts" (really easy helicopters). The Mech is new, that's true, and so are the maps and textures.

I don't think it's a "mod" of BF2, and I'm not saying it's a mod because it's based on the BF2 engine. But the amount of new content simply isn't worth 50$.

How can you say it's reskinned? I don't see any M16s or AK47s. A Gun is a Gun, and will always have the same basic elements...

New Content? 16 Infantry Tools, 28 Infantry Unlocks, 10 new Vehicles, 10 new Maps, the new Titan Game Mode, as well as improved elements from BF2 including a new Rank system that runs off of Career points which is derrived from Points earned during a round, along with points earned from Medals, Badges, Pins, and Ribbons, as well as Several different formats of Teamwork points. Thats more content then BF2s Launch.

Where is the lack of new content not worthy of your $50...

mod, expansion, same engine...call it whatever you want. The truth of the matter is your probably the first one in line in best buy when it comes out...lol. I love these damn geeks complaining all the time and they are the first one's to get the game. Whatever anyone wants to call it the game is going to be a huge success and so far the demo kicks ***!!! its very simple really. If you dont think its worth the price of admision dont buy it. But who are you kidding...lol, I know you probably already pre-ordered it...lol...god this kinda guys crack me up.

Why its a mod? because it uses the same engine modified? only one question...if they make exactly the same game (same maps...same vehicles...same weapons and unlocks...) but with better graphics and new engine then its a new game? Even some mods moved from bf2 to bf2142 because it was totally impossible to make some things on bf2 but now they can on bf2142 (like star wars mods).Try making a mod like bf2142 from bf2...when you get making that then tell me and i will admit that bf2142 is a mod.

Don't bother arguing with the "Its a Mod" posters. There are always those who complain about the next BF Game Being a "Mod" or some other complaint, and come the day of launch, or even a few weeks later, guess who's playing it. I know a lot of guys who didn't like the Idea of 2142 back when it was announced. They played the Beta, and they loved it. Same with several that had a negative opinion up until they played the Demo. Some will still maintain this opinion, but they'll either come around and buy it, or simply go away.

I remember when BF2 was announced and released, a large part of the community called it a Desert Combat rip off and claimed DC was Better. Guess what those guys have been playing for the past year ;)
