Very confused, blurry text,horrible graphics

ok im really confused by this.i dont know if its vista,maybe my monitor,or video card.but,i go to play bf2 today and i can tell right away that somethings wrong.first off,the login screen,and bfhq and all of that is kinda blurry now.never use to be.and,i have always played on 800x600 just to make the game run smoother,i go to play under that resolution now and the game looks HORRIBLE.i have no idea why,it was fine yesterday.im on vista btw,Geforce Nvidia 7100.ive updated drivers, my monitor is a 17 in. lcd. it says recommened resolution or whatever is 1680x1050 @60h.. but i have always run bf2 at 800x600 and never had this problem.if i raise resolution it looks alil better,but still something doesnt seem right.any help would really be appreciated.thx.

Because your trying to play the game using a 4:3 ratio on a 16:9 widescreen which means the picture is compressed.

ok hopefully i did that right,but if u cant tell,the graphics are horrible,the letters are brighter then they use to be,and the minimap looks like crap.and Alex i dont understand because i could play fine on any resolution before pretty much,now it looks HORRIBLE on 800x600 and if i bump it up,it looks better,but still not right.

I would try deleting cache files, if that doesn't work delete all the video.con files in My Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles.

well that didnt work either,i deleted all the cache files,and video.con files and its still the same.what does it sound like to u guys??i cant figure it out.i dont know if its my monitor,maybe video card,or maybe vista(really hate vista) i even took the cover off my pc just to see if theres some dust in there but theres not,i cleaned it,and still the same.i just dont get it.

Any ideas anyone?? or should i just take my pc back to best buy,where i got it. Cause my whole set up is only like 4-5 months old,and that is whats makin me mad because i shouldnt be havin problems with a pc i just got pretty much.

Any ideas guys?i know its not just BF2 cause i tried playin Warcraft 3,and it doesnt look NEAR as smooth as it use to. so,what sucks is i cant find my reciept right now for my pc,so till i find that, im stuck playin with crappy graphics and blurry text:( so any help would really be appreciated.thx

seems like ive seen those +sxy and sxz shortcuts or whatever they are before,but i cant seem to find anything on the forums about them.so if someone could give me the shortcut,that'd be cool,and, my monitor is at 1650x 1050,so what would i want to set that on??thx.
