Booster packs didnt work for BF2 bacause
1) not everyone bought them
2) They were expensive for what they were
3) If you did buy them, not many servers played them
For me this points to disappointent on the consumer and the publisher EA( due to lack of sales ). We can change this to make it beneficial to both parties, can anyone support the idea of the fact that if in game advertisement is supported that it:
A) reduces server monthly cost slightly
B) With reduced server costs, these can be increased to current rental costs by providing the booster packs to the servers abd anyone joining the server gets to play them free( the cost is absorbed in server rental and advertisement revenue ), booster packs can be sponsored by firms like Coke or whatever
C) Extra revenue should be attempted to be garnered by EA from consumers from creating a team playing environment where consumers are more likely to setup non hardcore meet up clans, and rom expansion packs
Any chance of you guys supporting me on this?

Any and all revenue that is generated for DICE either by the selling of the game or placing of ads goes back into their coffer, if the game is successful then that ensures more Battlefield games to follow.
The ads don’t pay down the player server cost any more than it does for the game itself.
Boosters or expansion packs are purely speculative at this point, they may make one or they may not, way too early to tell.
I’m pretty sure they need to get a stable release out first, the only thing that’s going to sell the game is other players feedback encouraging others to pick it up, there’s a lot of negativity surrounding the game both here and elsewhere.

Dont know what you want. Your post is more of a personal statement without links to statistical facts....so no replies.
There has not been any mention on expansions for BF2142, so why would anyone reply.
You should post this in the BF2 forums, you might get replies there.
Heres one for you.....I for one, still play AF. I think it was the best expansion but I do play SF more than anything.
Now back to BF2142 Demo.

The main reason why EF failed is because EA themselves didn't support it. If they really wanted this booster to thrive, they'd be atleast 5 official EA servers up for it right now. If in the future they release and don't support the product, same thing will happen.
I'm not sure what exactly are you asking for in this thread but post it up in the bf2 forums like a poster already stated.

Guys i just want the BF2 booster pack fiasco to end here, we have the power to do this, the extra revenue generated by advertisement should be used to load booster type packs on servers for everyone to enjoy free without having to pay, isint that a good idea? isint it worth rallying community support so we dont end up in the same scenario in the future with a split community of those who have them and those who dont
I personally like the idea of expansion packs but not boosters

Not really a personal statement, and theres no statistical analysis required( look at the amount of SF's servers which sux cos i have it and love it, but because its not standard nobody has it, it must be even more annoying for booster pack owners, personally i like my cash and prefer to keep it, ill spend money for things i will enjoy and the boosters aint it )

They will come, i just want to get you guys to post your opinions on this to make a difference and hopefully prevent the booster pack fiasco from happening again, dont get me wrong if you wanna go with it cool

Well this is BF2142 and im interested in how it pans out, the booster era for BF2 is over even though i want expansion packs, grrr

Good to hear youre a BF2 fan :), SF's just plain and simple rox, DICE Canada got delegated a stinker maintainence of crap code when you look at the fact that they were respoinsible for SF's

Sorry, but we don't.
We have very little say in the core gameplay let alone how DICE is going to use the revenue generated from the game etc. They may take every last dime and poor it into developing a racing game for the XBOX360. :p

lol, i hear you, but honestly we do, we are the revenue, i we stop supporting boosters bia revenue then they will stop, why spend ages developing suimit if it aint gonna sell
Im not taking a dig at DICE i just thing they should concentrate their revenue model on ads and servers rather than splitting commuities etc

Well that's one good thing about the booster packs, you got to pick and choose, I'm sure this will be $10 or less in short order.
I already bought the armored fury one and have no interest in EF, I got my $9.95 of play out of it, oops I guess I shouldn't admit that in this thread. :D

Does not matter if we support you or not it is up to EA now and since they love there money a bit too much i think we will see a booster in the 1st 2 monthes of retail release:cry:
I hope not cause boosters suck:laugh:
EA if you read this just give us 1 big massive expansion about a year after retail:D

I agree, im with the expansion pack idea in 6 months, but the problem with it is that it fragments the community, even if they could do what steam do and give free weekends to try out expansion packs to increase the user base

Any ... I repeat ANY expansion/booster pack WILL fragment the community. There will always be people who buy the expansion/booster and those who won't. Their reasons why, I don't know.
I myself, think EA/DiCE should just go back to expansion packs and not booster packs. One big expansion pack with alot of new stuff is better than alot of small packs and barely much new things in it IMO.

Am I off my rocker to thing that 2142 is nothing more then an expansion like SF? It has all the makings with the exception of an additional game mode and a revised unlock system. I seriously doubt this game took the same amount of time and resources to develop as BF2. They are just piggybacking on what we've already tested on an engine that's already developed. Just the same wheel with a different hubcap…
Oh- and SF was the reason I stopped buying anything in the form of a booster or expansion. It was a waste of money since no one really plays it and DICE/EA seemingly dropped it without a care.
*edit*

That's what they once did to keep people hooked and get new blood. Their current model = greed to me. We pay for the game (obviously), we pay for additional content- even just maps, and we pay for 'ranked' servers due to the ranking system (like crack for some). Soon we'll be paying monthly fees like WOW. I guess I should stop whining now but it seems like people are oblivious to something that I feel is getting out of control. But that's just me I guess.
