The Forgotten Hope 2 (http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com/main.php?module=&lang=english&flash=yes&mod=) mod team is back today to show off their latest map which centers around the invasion of Crete. Take a look:

Hello and welcome back to another update of Forgotten Hope. Today we'll show you the third and final map that will make its appearance in the patch. For this map, made by betatester DarkPepe and developer Fenring, we'll take a slight detour from Africa and go to the Mediterranean island of Crete. Unlike Sfakia, this map shows the airborne invasion of Crete. The Invasion of Crete is a remake of the original Crete 1941 from Forgotten Hope 0.7.

"Germany's war with Greece started when its ally Italy invaded the country in October of 1940. The Italian morale was low, and the invasion rushed and poorly planned. As a result the Italian armies failed to make much progress and in November the Greek armies pushed the Italians over the pre-war borders. Italy's failure forced Germany to intervene, as Commonwealth troops would be reinforcing the Greek armies. With the preparations of Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union, well underway it was imperative that the southern flank should be secure."

at this stage in the life of BF2, it's FH or nothing as far as mods go.

Great job.

Lol a bicycle .

...and OPK. :)

Looks nice. Does this mean Greek forces are being introduced? Also, is that the Germans parachuting into the map?

Crete was one of my favourite maps from FH. The way parachuting played out was excellent-

Getting into the cabin of a plane with about 10 other players, waiting for the doors to open, trying to scramble out before the plane got shot down, and then trying to find other team members to set up an attack on a base. It sounds awfully difficult, time consuming and unrewarding if you don't survive, but it was a billion times more fun and intense than the representation of a paradrop in any other game.

Sadly no longer possible in BF2. BF2's collision detection means that you can't get out of the plane without taking serious damage or getting killed. So now there are 8 positions per plane and when you exit the plane you'll spawn outside it.

I really wish it wasn't so but we're SOL untill DICE does something about it. Which they probably won't.

Well, since Greek militia and civilian forces played a major role in the battle (they waited German troops to land on to their harvesters and crop tools), it would have been nice to see something else than a regular army in this mod.

Just common clothes and a weapon. It would add points to the reality of the battle.
